First you ask to trade a 7th, then a 6th, 5th and down to third.

Just because you under contract doesn't mean you have to play. Its called a hold-out. And it doesn't means you cant be traded for!

If you are the Vikings you let him hold out. Its called having no leverage.

I would give a 3rd, because AP would turn the whole offense around. But a 4th or a 5th and a player is more reasonable. 4th, or 5th and Lewis. Either then that I think we stick it with Pierce to see if he breaks out because this year is his contract year.

^ This

The guy is 30 years old and coming off missing a season.  He either plays for the Vikings or plays for no one.  If he doesn't play, he doesn't get paid.  He has no leverage at all.

Check it out.... (I proposed this in another thread)

Benn, Doss, Gerhart, Pierce, and a 4th rounder for AD/AP.

If you think I offended you, don't worry, I meant to. #facts

Quote:Rumors are AP is not gonna resign with the Vikings, with that being said if you were Caldwell would you take a shot at a trade for him? I personally would offer them Gerhart, Henne and a third rounder for him .Lol but I'm sure they would deny that!
He's not going to re-sign...in 3 years?  Because he's under contract with them until the end of the 2017 season.

There's no point in trading ANYTHING for a 30 year old running back who has an inflated contract to begin with.  No team is going to trade for that unless they're convinced they're 1 player away from winning a title.  This team isn't.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Trade for a 30 year old RB who has an absurd contract and zero respect for his loved ones or business associates. What could go wrong?

Trade a 3rd for a 30 year old RB with a HUGE contract, with over 2k carries, and hasn't played in a year?? Again, maybe football isn't your thing.

Adrian Peterson, even at the age of 30, is a difference maker.  He is a rare breed.  That call to Jerry Jones last year about wanting to play for Dallas has made things interesting.  Dallas just restructured Romo as well.  There were whispers of Dallas not resigning Murray and making a run for Peterson the weekend of the playoff against the Lions, while I was in Dallas.  And Peterson has been rumored to be open to re-working his deal if he was to be traded to Dallas.  Where there is smoke, there is fire.  Can't see Jax going after him, even with all the cap space.  They are not built for an immediate run.

LOL.  Not even Gene Smith would do that deal.

When you get into the endzone, act like you've been there before.

Q uestion for those of us against the idea of trading for AP.

What if AP was part of the compensation for a trade down with Minnesota, (I.e. Vikings send us 11, a 3rd round pick, and AP for the 3rd overall pick), instead of sending a pick straight up for him?

Would you be more open to the idea of trading for him?

11, their 2nd, and their 3rd rounder is the least I would take. AP is AP, but IMO that contract is a negative, which is why I'd ask for the 2nd rounder.
