Let's say we pick at 12 and 19......

Quote:It's a moot point debating.  If Caldwell doesn't think the drop off in talent from 3 to 12 isn't great, he will do a tradeback.

If he thinks that at #3, he's getting elite talent, he will stay and pick.

You left out the other side of the equation.   If Caldwell thinks the drop off in talent from 3 to 12 isn't great, he will do a tradeback, but at the same time, Cleveland will have to think the opposite- that the drop off is that great, because if they agree with Caldwell that the drop off is not that great, then they will also agree with Caldwell that 12 and 19 is preferable to 3 alone.   And then there's no trade.

Yeah exactly. I think it would be a possibility if one of the QBs is there at 3.

Otherwise I just don't see people mortgaging their future to trade up for a guy like fowler or williams

The only way I'd like to trade back is if Parker was guaranteed to still be on the board at our pick

Personally, I think the Browns are nuts. I also wouldn't take the trade unless they offered another pick bundled with it. It depends on how bad the Browns want their guy. But I could see us definitely taking it if more picks are offered as we really have alot of needs. We didn't win that many games so drafting over a starter is also on the table if we get more picks. At just two 1st rounders, I think it is tempting.

I don't get the fascination with wanting picks 12 and 19.  There is a tier drop off in the 12-16 range; 19 is too late, it might as well be a second round talent.  That isn't enough to move all the way up to 3 and the last remaining good QB in this class.
