Quick Tack Trade Poll: Rivers to tacks

#21

If I was the Titans, I would take the Bears trade, as long as they threw in a couple extra picks (like a 2nd or 3rd, and a couple late rounders). I mean Cutler is an upgrade, but they are basically dumping him on you, so I look at him as no added value or low value. Rivers is actually good, but hes older, and I am not sure he has the arm strength to go for more than 3 or 4 years (although his game has never been about arm strength, so maybe he weathers that storm better than others). That said, I actually think the Rivers trade might be fair as is, or with a couple of 3rd day picks thrown in.

Rivers is a really good QB, and would make them at least competitive for the division in the weak sauce AFC South. I feel like the Titans D is actually okay if paired with an actual competent offense. Cutler would get them 2 more wins next year, but no where near the playoffs, so he isn't worth much. But since the bears are so desperate to move on, I bet they will give up quite a bit more to get rid of a competent starting QB (who is very overpaid), and Cutler would still be an upgrade for the tacks. So I take that trade with the above additions.

Yes, it's improvement, but it's Blaine Gabbert 2012 level improvement. - Pirkster

Quote:I want the tacks to stay put and blow the 2nd pick leaving us with plenty of people wanting to trade up for Mariota
The only way they blow it is if they take Mariota. The kid will bust. Almost anyone else in the top 6 is actually worth taking. I don't know why teams get so excited about these spread option QB's who are questionable, especially coming from Oregon. Maybe the Eagles could make it work, but I am not sure anyone else can.

This may be a tired argument, but If Rivers is so good, then why would the Chargers want to move on?

I don't think the Chargers want to move on.   The issue seems to be Philip Rivers doesn't want to sign a new contract if the Chargers leave San Diego after the 2015 season.   With the Chargers moving to Los Angeles in 2016 a very realistic possibility and his contract expiring after the 2015 season,   the Chargers might decide to trade Rivers if a good trade offer presents itself.

I would want them to end up with Cutler over Rivers. But thankfully both are nearing the end of their careers.

If Cutler is involved in any trade, you do not take it.  He's horrible.

If you can get Rivers and multiple picks, thats not a bad bargain....but you have to make sure he is willing to re up, and its Tennessee.

Hoping they can coax Locker out of retirement for one more go.
