i guess i just dont see him as an upgrade over gerhart or even storm.

side note: cant believe bryce brown is playing second fiddle to shady again ahahah

I don't know that Polk is an upgrade over Pierce, who is even borderline to make it.

i forgot all about pierce. i definitely dont think polk is better than pierce. we actually have a good crop of runningbacks. every guy has an issue or two holding them back. gerhart with the injuries, storm is just a rookie, pierce needs to get his head on straight, denard is more of a handcuff back.

Would it be a possibility for us to grab Mariota as trade bait?

Possibility?  Yes.  Will it happen?  Nope.

i assume the trade would just happen during the draft if a team really wanted him. there is a very slim chance that a team would bank on getting another qb later, missing out on that qb, and then needing to grab mariota.

If anywhere, probably there. He would probably be the best receiving TE coming out of college this year or last year for that matter.

i absolutely love his talent. blackmon has me really gun shy about taking shots on players with red flags like that.

i wouldnt be upset if we signed him to try to eventually replace marcedes, ill leave it at that for now.

How is that possible since it hasn't even been a year since the last draft?

Lyerla reportedly has been in the substance-abuse program for 18 months (which would coincide with his October 2013 leave from Oregon) and hasn't failed a single test.

I think he mean't a substance abuse program in general, not the NFL's program.

Anything is possible, but I would think that if he's on the board when we're picking, the phones are going to be pretty active.  My guess is that the Jags have already prepared themselves to make deals in the event of any one of multiple scenarios.  I'm sure we've already had conversations with a handful of teams.

Quanterus Smith cut by the Broncos. He was an intriguing pass rushing prospect coming out of the draft 2 years ago and fits the LEO mold perfectly. Health issues aside he could be someone to bring into camp on a waiver wire claim.

Being that the Jaguars are high up in the waiver claim order,   this is a potential good opportunity with practically no downside.   Even if Quanterus Smith demonstrates in the remainder of the off-season that he doesn't warrant a spot on the 90 man roster,   on the surface there's no harm done at all.

I really liked Quanterus before the injuries. Sad.

And he signs with the Texans.

Good.  We don't need another slow, plodding guy in the back field.
