Here you go. Doesn't look like he's a suspect:

Good, let's hope he's not. A senseless crime regardless.

You think Shane Ray is gonna drop...?!?

This guy will be lucky to be drafted at all.  No team is going to want to touch him.

Yes I clicked the link.

Yes I saw police said he is not a suspect.

They left off the "for now" qualifier.

Until Collins can establish his whereabouts at the time his ex was killed, he is going to be a proverbial person of interest.

If its proven that he did murder his ex-girlfriend, I suspect ole' Roj will hit him we 6-8 game suspension.

Gotta comedown hard on him. Send a message.

Even if he isn't a suspect at the moment, what NFL team is going to risk drafting him in the first two rounds, only to have him be charged later on?

The fact this is happening 2 days before the draft won't help matters at all.

I am thankful that baby survived and I hope the guilty persons involved are brought to justice.

They said baby could be his. He is in Chicago and hasn't talked to police after 4 days. This is the weirdest pre draft story I have ever seen.

So this isn't a big deal really but the headlines make it look bad

Sounds like with the mother gone, the family needs help with the child.

Hope the child gets what it needs.

Talent wise?  Absolutely.

But if you are a GM, are you saying you would actually make the decision to draft this guy in the first given how the league came down hard on Ray Rice and Greg Hardy, and the black eye the league got in the aftermath of Aaron Hernandez?

I'm not sure I could do that.

Given the severity of these developments, and how close they are to the draft, it would not surprise me one bit to see him fall like a rock.

This from Peter King...

Quote:

1. I think La’el Collins, the LSU tackle projected to be a first-round draft choice Thursday night, has a problem. A pregnant woman Collins apparently knew was murdered last week in Louisiana, and police want to speak with Collins. Police say he is not a suspect. But one team I talked to that is interested in drafting a tackle in the first round is now re-thinking whether Collins will even be on its board Thursday night. This team’s thinking goes: How can you draft a guy who’s being sought in connection with the death of a woman, even if police are saying now he isn’t a suspect? He needs to be exonerated by Thursday. Fair or unfair, Collins needs to address this today, and with finality.

Looks like his agent is trying to get him out of the draft to clear his name and he can re-enter the supplemental draft

Smart move if he is innocent, it would be a shame for a kid to lose millions of dollar just cuz some jerk killed somebody he was close to.
