Two Round Mock Contest
|
One round is for amateurs. How about a two-round contest?
Rules are simple: 1. Do a two round mock. 2. You get one point for every player picked to the right team at the correct selection number (picks #1-#64). 3. You get a half point for every player that goes at the correct selection number, but different team (trade). 4. We add up all the points after day two of the draft and see who gets the most points. 5. Winner gets bragging rights as board "Draft Guru" for a year. 6. You can edit your mock up to 5 min before the first round starts, but not after that. Example: You pick QB Marcus Mariota to go #2 to the Titans. If the Titans pick him at #2, you get one point. If the Titans trade the #2 to the Eagles, and they select Mariota there at #2, you get a half point. If the Titans trade down to #6 and pick Mariota there, you get zero points. I will go first so others can use mine as a template.
At this point, I like the idea of the Jags drafting WR Amari Cooper at #3 and getting a LEO later, but for a contest like this, I have to go with Leonard Williams as the pick if he is there. I'd still love Leonard Williams and Philip Dorsett with the first two picks. Then a RB and FS in 3rd and 4th, depending on who is there.
Quote:One round is for wimps. How about a two-round contest? Thanks for setting up the contest. Here's a question. Lets use Carl Davis as an example. In my current Mock Draft, I have Carl Davis going to the Ravens in Round 2. While most consider Davis a DT, the Ravens are primarily a 3-4 team. If he goes to Baltimore, he probably will be used as a DE. Yet, when the pick is announced, the person announcing the pick might list him as a DT. There's going to be DE's that some teams consider OLB's and vice versa. The same with CB vs S, as well as T vs G. How would a situation like this be factored in with the scoring system?
Quote: Thanks for setting up the contest. Guess your refering to: 2. You get one point for every player picked to the right team at the right position. Change "Position" to draft pick/draft slot... Position means 1,2,3,4,5 - 64 etc.... Quote:Guess your refering to: Thanks for the clarification. I'm glad I asked the question, as there would have been plenty of uncertainty on this end otherwise. Yes, # 2 was where the uncertainty was. After seeing your reply, I'm confident that jagabc6893 set up the contest the way you described. With the rumors about at least 3 players in recent days falling for either an off the field situation or injury situation, I'm probably going to wait until Tuesday before posting my contest Mock Draft. Quote: Thanks for setting up the contest.Does not matter what position they are announced at, as long as the player is taken at that pick number. One full point if the you get team AND pick # right. Half a point if the player is selected at correct pick #, but a different team drafts him there after a trade. If the team you predicted to draft a player some how picks that same player at a different draft position after a trade, no points. I will try to add some language to clarify the original post outlining the rules. Quote:Does not matter what position they are announced at, as long as the player is taken at that pick number. Unless I misunderstood, using the 2014 Draft for example, in my Mock Draft I had Allen Robinson going to the Jaguars in Round 2 with pick # 39. But being that the Jaguars ended up drafting Robinson later in the round as a result of a trade, I wouldn't have received any points for the Jaguars/ Robinson connection if that entry was in this contest? But I would have received partial points for the Jaguars drafting another WR with pick # 39?

What other WR, besides Lee, is on The Jags' roster and was selected with the 39th overall pick? #JAGUARSTRIVIA ...and boy, if he could come in here and produce whereas his production matches his measureables? Whoo! Then we've found ourselves a jewel

In looking at last year's thread, I notice that TBGH is currently not an active member of the Forum. I have no idea what happened but hope he's ok.
As a result, unless someone mentions by 6:00pm tomorrow ( Monday ) that they want to host the contest, which would certainly be fine with me, I'll work on putting together the contest tomorrow evening. I would use last year's contest as a guide. But if you want to offer input on one or more questions asked in the contest, by all means please mention it in this thread by 6:00pm tomorrow evening. What other WR, besides Lee, is on The Jags' roster and was selected with the 39th overall pick? #JAGUARSTRIVIA Thanks! I have no idea the answer to the trivia question. The only player that I know off the top of my head who played for the Jaguars and was the 39th overall pick in an NFL Draft is current Lions CB Rashean Mathis.

(I actually got some points for Robinson on that one last year to in that contest). In mine, you have to pick the player at the correct slot (#1-#64) to get either a full point to the correct team, or half a point to a different team after a trade. I am going to count it up by just looking at the pick # and the player. Would be too much to also try to look and see which team with which player for a bunch of two round mocks.
1st Round
1. Jameis Winston- Bucs 2. Dante Fowler- Titans 3. Marcus Mariota- Jets 4. Leonard Williams- Raiders 5. Vic Beasley- Redskins 6. Amari Cooper- Jaguars 2nd Round 36. Byron Jones- Jaguars 37. Eli Harold- Jaguars That would be a dream scenario. We could also go Dante Fowler at 3 and Jay Ajayi at 36 or Vic Beasley at 6 and Byron Jones 36 and Jay Ajayi at 37. Or trade back into the 1st for Gurley!!
Quote:Thanks! I didn't know myself til a couple of days ago, that Arrelious Benn was selected #39 in the 2010 Draft. Draft-mate of Alualu. If he can come in and be impactful, that would surely be a plus. Blackmon 2.0

Benn was currently on the Jaguars roster. I'm glad you asked the trivia question! If Benn has been able to put the knee injury he suffered behind him, he probably will be in the thick of the battle for a roster spot. Benn probably will have to demonstrate that he can be a significant factor on Special Teams in order to stick. If he can accomplish that, this could be the much needed turning point of his career that he's been seeking.
This contest has potential, though I think it'd be better if people were rewarded for how close they were.
Something like NFL.com's system where you get partial credit for being less than 5 off.
I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Quote:1st RoundWould be a nice scenario, but this won't earn you enough points to be the board draft guru. Need full 2-round mock if you'd like to play.

I predict no QB is drafted by the Bucs at #1 and someone jumps to #2 to select Cooper.
