I don't get what is so hard to understand - biggest need on the D was LEO, it's a premium position and several top pass-rushers like Ray and Gregory have huge question marks, so the Jags got the best pass rusher in the draft and will almost certainly address WR/RB at some point in the draft.

I truly believe that picking in the top 5 is really not a test of a GM, when we are picking past the 15th pick will really be the measure, bang or bust doesn't matter here at 3 because picking at 3 means you have a bad football team overall, the drafts when you are picking 15 and above are the ones that truly define your franchise

Blake was a good draft pick, and not the pick that everyone expected. I was happy. But our offense is still somewhatt anemic. Scratch that...very anemic. We need elite players on offense first

Fowler was my least favorite of the 3-5 players the Jags may have considered at the #3 spot.  But I support the pick now that it has been made.  I understand they felt an elite pass rusher was needed to take the defense to the next level.  These players are usually tough to find outside the Top 10.  And I trust Gus's ability to identify the pass rusher who fits his defense the best. 

 

That said, I feel pass rushers in general are a bit of a crapshoot and the risk of taking one so high is magnified.  Then to hear that Dante is not a finished product as a pass rusher, is rather worrisome.  At least he doesn't seem to have any character issues.     

 

The Jags have needed an elite pass rusher for many years.  They had their choice of any defensive player in the draft.  Despite any doubts expressed above, I do hope Dave has chosen wisely.  And I do welcome Donte Fowler aboard as a Jaguar, wish him the greatest of success, and hope he's a fixture here for many years.

Williams or Fowler .... but Fowler fills a 10 year weakness.   The game is moving outside the tackles.  Titans drafted Mariota .....Luck now needs to look over his left shoulder.    All we neen at DT is a few run pluggers that get some leverage .... Williams is not that type of dude.

This is a great pick. He is the best edge rusher in the draft, but can move around anywhere. Plays great with hands in the dirt or upright. Very versatile defensive player.
