Jonathan Martin, OT, Miami Dolphins

#61

I like the story about how all the other lineman left the lunch table when Martin sat down with his little lunch tray.  HA, what is this?  Middle School?

Quote:Anyone think Philbin is gonna lose his job because of this, especially if they fail to make the playoffs?

Probably.

The other related question that comes to mind is whether G.M. Jeff Ireland will lose his job,  despite getting a contract extension back in September?

It's easy to envision owner Stephen Ross eating Jeff Ireland's contract.   For most of the post Dan Marino era,  the Dolphins have had major P.R. problems in South Florida,   The recent situations surrounding this team likely is going to intensify the fan and media criticisms of the Dolphins organization.

When Don Shula was the Dolphins HC,  this was a model NFL Franchise.  Basically, they had the popularity in South Florida that the NBA Miami Heat currently have.  In most of the 2000's, in essence the Patriots became the Dolphins and the Dolphins became the Patriots.

That's more a statement about cronyism than about civic duty. Once Incognito coerced Martin into giving him $$$ it became a felony...

Majority? No, not even close. I don't think you've read enough up on it.

Here is one who is confused though.

But Cardinals defensive tackle <a class="" href='http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/playerpage/492923/darnell-dockett'>Darnell Dockett</a> knows Incognito as one of the NFL's dirtiest players.

“He's been getting away with a lot of stuff,” Dockett said. “His whole makeup is playing dirty and trying to hurt guys. Like I say, just Google it up. There are so many incidents where he's trying to hurt guys and physically bully guys. I'm glad certain guys are standing up for themselves. I hope the guy from the Dolphins is able to get some help, rebound and continue his career.”

Ive read alot on it.

A player refer to someone as a half N-word, threaten to kill him, and he is named "Honorary Black Man" that equals a confused locker room.

So did Dockett spew racial racists tirades, threatend to kill someone, transfer to multiple Div-I schools, released from multiple NFL teams for detrimental conduct?

Whether someone has a liberal, or conservative viewpoint, a authoritative figure should not lock a thread for the sole purpose to get the last word in all the while prohibiting someone else from being able to respond.

It's like Hartline said. You take bits and pieces of that phone call and use it how you want, which is what the media has done. Listen to the whole thing and you get a much better grasp of what is going on. There's more to it then just the words. The honorary black man thing came from a group of black players, it was not self annointed. This is locker room stuff that I hinted to earlier. It happens. Whether one feels it's right or wrong is up to them, but it is a common thing in athletics, particularly football.

Based on the phone call, I don't think the threat was sincere in the least, but it was stupid nonetheless.

The Dockett thing has nothing to do with calling someone racist. He was asked about him being dirty, he said he was dirty. It had nothing to do with comments. I thought it was hilarious because Dockett is dirty. Or, are you saying unless you spew racial comments while being dirty, such as kicking someone in the head, then that is the point where it becomes dirty. Dockett is as dirty as they come. You twisted what was being asked, again, you're good at that, at least.

I listened to and read the entire transcript, and it dosent change my opinion that Incognito is a racist who is mentally ill. He spews the word multiple times which to me indicates hate. You missed the point about me bringing up the honorary Black man situation. My poiint is he is laughing at the prominent AA players on the team because they perceive him (Incognito) as having more credibility than Martin who graduated from Stanford Univ. and has well educated parents.

If Dockett is dirty the way you describe him, you would have been hearing that throughout his career from Bowden to his Arizona coaches describing his play and hear multiple outcries in the NFL.

Nobody is twisting anything. Im asking you basic questions and you cant (or afraid to) answer them (as usual).

The linemen planned a trip to vegas, they do it yearly.  They rent a private jet and lavish suites.  Everyone was going to have a great time.

Weakminded wounded lady martin decided she didn't want to go and canceled at the last minute.  Of course he has to pay his share.

Martin is a coward and doesn't deserve to wear the SHIELD.   He can stay at his mommy's and pout at home alone.

The question you asked was regarding Dockett, "Did he spew racial, racist tirades..." I answered that, and said it didn't matter because what was pointed out was a simple comment he made regarding dirty players. The comment had nothing to do with racism. You go off on these tangents, and then get stuck in them as if they matter. It had zero to do with what was asked by the reporter, or the comment he gave.

http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcwest/post/_/i...e-dirtiest This one from 09, a few years before the above. Incognito 1, Dockett 5.

I could keep posting articles and youtube video. But what's the use, you'll make some excuse up, again.

So when I asked was Dockett spewing racial tirades, all of a sudden it didnt matter.

The only thing you did was "link" both Dockett and Incognito to being both dirty players, when in reality there is more to Incognito's character than just simply being a dirty player on the field. You are comparing apples to oranges.

Again you seamlessly try to inject something/someone into a topic that is barely relevant, or completely irrelevant.

Lately you seem to be on a EPIC meltdown of FSU and the fans. First, you along with other Gator fans "claim" that many FSU fans wanted Jimbo fired, and wanted to insinuate who they were, but never named them.

Now you are posting throwback YT vids of Noles vs Gators.

So if the people Incognito's not bullying or spewing racial epithets about like him, it makes him less of a racist or bully?

Of course it didn't matter!! You don't have to spew racist remarks for something to be deemed dirty!  It's not a prerequisite!

Go back and read how this gets started. This happens in every freaking conversation with you. You bring things up that are not relevant whatsoever and then continue to run with it!

You commented how the Dolphins locker room was confused. I then replied to that saying the majority was not, but here is someone who is confused...

That is when I posted the article and comment from Dockett. A reporter asked him if he though Incognito was a dirty player. He replied. Race was not brought up by reporter or Dockett, so no, it had zero to do with race. I simply found it funny, no wait, hilarious that Dockett could call anyone dirty. You then go off on this tangent that had nothing to do with it, typical, but very frustrating.

Being a dirty player is different than being a scummy human being. Incognito is a scummy human being.

I didnt bring up Dockett or any other player besides Martin into this converstaion, you did.

Again, the reason why IMO I thought the Dolphins locker room was confused because 1. Some players elected Incognito to "Honorary Black Guy", 2. Some players through various interviews admitted laughing when they heard the reported voicemail Incognito left for Martin which included the racist remarks, and 3. Some players thought the relationship between Incognito and Martin was fine, but there were other players who knew Incognito's job was to "specifically" toughen Martin up which included the bullying tactics.

None of that had no relationship with Dockett.

The only thing you could possibly equate Dockett and Incognito to is dirty play which is subjective. That is what prompted my question to you to ask did Dockett spew racial racists tirades, threatened to kill someone, transfer to multiple Div-I schools, released from multiple NFL teams for detrimental conduct?

The reality of the situation is the Incognito-Martin issue is more complex and has more elements to it than Incognito just being a dirty player. So while you went off on a unnecessary ramble the two players (Dockett) and Incognito are apples and oranges when it compares to their character on and off the field and in the locker room.

I understand you want to manipulate this conversation to certain specifics but this is one of them where all elements has to be discussed.

Whether someone has a liberal, or conservative viewpoint, a authoritative figure should not lock a thread for the sole purpose to get the last word in all the while prohibiting someone else from being able to respond.

Pretty sure that was all he ever intended to do. Hence, why he found it funny that Dockett called him dirty.

Sorry, but just because somebody doesn't fit a prescribed mold doesn't make them wrong. I don't have the facts in front of me like you must have, but I'd say Martin figured he'd have anything but a good time with Incognito and his posse and would probably be pressured to put up even more $ once they got going in Vegas... IMO he finally grew a pair and decided enough was enough...
