I'm looking into getting a smoking gun for bourbon.


I had some at the Shim Sham Room and now I'm hooked.
I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

Nah, Shim Sham used to be McCool's on 1st Street in Jax Beach. It's a nice place to hang out.

But they have a "gun" there that infuses smoke into the bourbon bottle.

Amazing flavor.

Think ive already said this on here, but i think jaxson deville is part owner of shim shams... Cool place too.



Anyway crown and gingers have been hittin my spot lately on the golf corse... Oh yeah, and bloddy marys on slighly warm days :-)


Somone showed me a bloody mary with clamato instead of tomato or zing zang.. Good stuff, little Worcestershire sauce, celery salt, hot sauce that isnt trash, decent vodka, clamato, and you got a damn good bloody mary.... The clamato makes it little saltier and less v8 tasting and ,IMO, way better.

Thread bump.  

 

 

Been checking out some really nice "reserve" and "pot-still" Irish whiskies lately.  Great stuff.  It's what Jameson wants to be when it grows up, gets a Harvard degree and retires to a private island in Bali after a few years making billions in venture capital. 

 

Favorites are Green Spot and it's big brother Yellow Spot.

Also the Red-Breast 12 and 15 are quite good!!

(Malaga is another Spanish fortified wine in the vein of sherry.)

Notes of crushed red pepper emerge over time, lending heat to the aroma. The palate is grainy and full of notes of fresh biscuits, crushed cookies, and, later, vanilla custard and butterscotch. The finish is lightly nutty, warming, and loaded with more granary notes. Some sea spray and iodine sneaks in there, before a marshmallow sweetness takes hold to finish things off.

<p style="color:rgb(40,39,31);font-family:'Noto Serif', Georgia, Times, serif;">92 proof.

 
 
 
The Yellow Spot runs about $80 a bottle and the green is around 55-60.

I had one in Dohar which was called a Fidel Castro

She told me it basically consists of Ginger Ale Soda, Brown Sugar, Mint Leaves press hard on them for a sec or two, and really good Rum.

Just for old times sake (and nothing better to do because my internet was down then) I drank a 12 pack of MGD in the bottles on June 1. Forgotten how good Miller was for just a beer to have on a hot day.

(I prefer the YellowSpot to the RB12, btw.... but they are quite different)

I've had Laphroig 15, Redbreast 15, and Yellow Spot tonight.


I think I'd have to rate them YS, LP, RB... the YS is just so unique, loving it so far. Thanks for the rec!


But the be fair, RB was one of the latter drinks, I'm not too sure it was an accurate representation.
