The truth is the north turned a blind eye to slavery as long as they were getting the cheap textiles that allowed them to continue to manufacture products in the north.  They also practiced slavery, so they were complicit.

The best they could do was "it was a reason but not the only one". And when I bring up the fact that the slave states pretty much said word for word it WAS about slavery. I got crickets as a response. Im waiting for a response to how this (South Carolinas succession statement) is not DIRECTLY about slavery.

Honestly, I see this thread going away pretty soon.  People seem to ignore facts and continue.  The only thing that I hope is that this doesn't become the "media issue" during the upcoming election cycle.  I personally could care less how some politician feels regarding the flag.  I would rather the focus be on more important issues.

You didn't get crickets.  You just didn't agree with the answers.  Slavery was simply 1 of many reasons for the Civil War.  Even in the little sample of the "succession statement", you're completely ignoring the overall context of the cherry picked piece you've provided.  It's hilarious watching you try to come off as being educated.  You don't know the proper word.  You provide a sample from a statement that you clearly don't understand, and you say it's all about slavery.  You should really stop.  You're doing nothing but embarrassing yourself.
