I brought the Dockett thing up....Once. You are the one who responded to it and made a mountain out of a mole hill on something I got a chuckle from. The comment is akin to one prostitute telling another prostitute that she's a dirty sloot, and I find that hilarious.The Dockett issue (question and comment) was never a racial thing, it was something I found hilarious because he is commenting on someone who is a dirty player. It's funny, other people get it, other people always get it, except you. Proof in the pudding here, again.

Ehh. I hate whenever I writer dismisses something because it doens't fit the narrative they are trying to establish. He excludes Tannehill's support of Incognito as him only sticking up for him because of his value on the football field. We still don't know a heck of a lot about the situation in the lockerroom and everyone seems to be acting as if all the facts have come out.

 

I think we're going to see a lot of info that paints that whole lockerroom, including Jonathan Martin, in a bad light.

Tannehill was far from the only one to support. Their were many who are. Wallace, Clabo, Hartline, McKinnie, Wake., etc.

Ultimately, if the Dolphins' locker room promotes this atmosphere and Incognito took advantage of it and utilized it as many others have, then how can we single-out Incognito for something that his teammates have deemed acceptable?

Yup. I can see Philbin, or his O-Line coach saying,"Hey, let's motivate this guy, let's toughen him up". That doesn't give him carte blanche to do whatever he wants to do.

Motivation through ridicule just seems so ... unhelpful? Hard to get someone motivated that hates coming to work.

 

Now here is something I think the NFLPA, and the NFL should do (CBA Change). In a case where both sides agree that a hostile workplace has unduly (or other worthy situations) affected a player by a situation within the team they play for, there should be a rule that allows that player to be traded (after the deadline) to another team. Martin should not have to go back to the Dolphins, but he shouldn't be able to pick his team either. The league (NFLPA/Owners) should be the ones to choose the best offer for the trade itself.

 

Or something like that. This may be the one, and only situation that would invoke such a trade, but Martin, and his future should no longer be at the mercy of the Dolphins orginization.

I think there's zero chance he plays for the Miami. I do think he'll eventually be picked up by a team, but he's not that good of a player. Add in the fact that a locker room probably won't trust him, I don't think he's long for the NFL.

I think there's a difference in not dogging a player and supporting them. These guys are supporting Incognito. I'd imagine, like anyone else, if they thought poorly of him that they would simply avoid the topic all together. They're coming out to show support.

A college teammate of mine posted this to facebook about 5 hours ago. Well said, and well written. Great guy who took a commission after graduation. Has 5 kids and is a phenomenal person.

 

"Any football player will tell you that the locker room is an extension of the football field. Your manhood is tested in the locker room. Actions in the locker room are litmus tests to determine whether or not one can go to war with you on the field. Once you pass the locker room tests, you have brothers for life. I don't agree with what happened in Miami to Martin, but as a survivor of the locker room tests, I wouldn't be honest if I say I agree with how Martin handled it. It does show a lack of leadership it takes to govern the locker room in Miami."
