Bortles 2015

#1

With a new Oline, RB, TE, and throwing motion, Bortles should improve drastically as well as the team. Looking at his stats from last year

2014: 280- 475- 58.9%- 2908- 11tds- 17int and 56 att- 419 yrds rushing.

It was pretty bad, horrible. However with the new pieces, new offense, nd new mechanics a big jump could happen. For next year a reasonable would be:

2015: 330- 530- 62.2%- 3600 yards- 18 tds- 13 ints and 50 att- 400 yrds rushing

This would probably win us 5 or 6 games and with an actual NFL rb we may be able to squeak out some more.

What do you guys think? Is it enough?

I think that would be enough for us to win 7-8 games.

It not the topic, its the new thread. There are 2 about the same exact thing on the second page alone.

We could talk about how bad we suck all day , how Bradley needs to be fired, how Blake Bortles is the worst qb statistically in franchise history and how we aint had a winning season in almost a decade or we can be optimistic and project stats and records for next year. I prefer to take the latter of the two.

He actually reminds me of ryan tannehill.

Could be better than Tannehill. Stronger arm, more mobility. They should encourage his scrambling ability as he continues to develop as a passer...hopefully, it doesn't impede his growth. 400 yards on the ground is impressive.

The biggest concern for this year is the 'all in' aspect of BB.  We know Henne doesn't have the 'it' factor, and he should have been replaced.

It is far too early to say we have found 'the' guy.  Maybe Bortles is, maybe he is not.

We should have prepared for either eventuality.

I don't think, and i sure hope, he'll be running that much this season.  With (hopefully) and improved O-Line and a consistent running game, i'd hope he doesn't approach those numbers.

You can have an improved line, and still run, sometimes by design. He is young and has the ability. Why not utilize it? The days of slinging relentlessly from the box are waning.

This is not saying, run every chance you get, or take off after first read. I mean, incorporate the ground game to keep Ds off balance, and deem the QB more threatening.

Because you risk injury.

Luck only ran for 273 last season and had arguably a worse run game than us. No reason Blake should even sniff 400 rushing yards this season

Ok.

I get injury concerns. But to me, 25 yards on the ground a game is not earth shattering.

Though yes it takes only 1 yard for disaster to surface...but you don't play the game with reservation. I am not advocating that he runs more, I am saying because he is good at it, and is not close to the likes of Luck in passing as yet, then help move the chains when possible.

With time, the better he passes, the less he'll resort to his legs.

I think that's probably what we'll see.

Exactly,

With an improved running game, I still would like to see at least 1 attempt a game with the read option/QB keeper. Potential big play ability and with Bortles as a former Baseball player, he knows how to get down and slide. Might even tack on an extra 15 yards for a defender just barely making contact with the QB.

For sure. And once Ds start 'fearing' or prepping for that aspect of our O, passing opportunities increase.

I think we have added a lot of beef and savvy on the o-line.

Parnell is MASSIVE. I'm told Cann has a lot of power (something Beadles needs to improve on). And Wiz is probably a lot smarter than Bowanko at this point in their careers. Blake even stated there were times last year when Bowanko looked back at Blake when approaching the LOS as they both had NO IDEA what was coming. Wiz can definitely help a young QB out.
