I couldn't agree more with flsprtsgod.  The nasty part of politics is going to come out, and it's going to be the left that brings it on.

 

In the past presidential election, Herman Cain was eliminated partly because he was often called an "Uncle Tom".  He was "attacked" by liberals not because of his policies or his track record, he was attacked because of his race.  Dirt was dug up regarding his past, and he was forced to defend himself against un-true claims against him.

 

Look at what is said regarding Ben Carson or Allen West. by liberal "media" outlets.  They are attacked not because of their policies or belief, it's solely because they happen to be conservative black people.

 

Ben Carson was considered a hero and role model in the black community for many, many years...  That is until they realized he's a conservative.  Now he's Uncle Tom scum.

We know that Obama's father was a foreign  national and he was born outside the continental united states so basic due diligence to make sure that he met the constitutional criteria to take office made a lot of sense, even though i will concede that there were some who took it overboard.  

 

conversely, look at it this way.  If scott walker started his political career in the home of a former grand wizard of the kkk who had written books about how he set bombs in the churches of MLK during the 60's and how he wished he could do more and avoided prosecution on a technicality, why do i suspect the national media would have asked him more than one question about it.  Or what if later when Walker said, hey i barely know the guy it turns out that they served on various boards together and the Grand Wizard Ghost wrote his first memoir that catipulted him to the main stage of american politics?  do you think that someone would have said something?  do you think that would make the news?  The simple fact that most people don't to this point in reading know that i am making a direct contrast to Bill Ayers and the weather underground pentagon bombings just goes to show that there is a huge double standard for conservatives and liberals. 

 

And Incidentally, marco rubio just found out that if your a minority conservative and you get a speeding ticket you better watch out!

Plenty of people brought it up but in more of a "Why arn't people asking him about this? Oh because he is on their team" Sort of way. I took it as mocking more than accusatory.

The county in which I reside has stopped issuing marriage licenses altogether, to avoid complying with the SCOTUS decision. The county court clerk of a neighboring county quit her post in protest when her employer did not do what our county did.

The county in which I reside has stopped issuing marriage licenses altogether, to avoid complying with the SCOTUS decision. The county court clerk of a neighboring county quit her post in protest when her employer did not do what our county did.

I am sure there are plenty of places that would welcome her with open arms.

 

You know what though? I have no problem with people quitting over this. If you don't want to do the work you are payed to do then as people say, go find another job.

I don't think anyone who was hired before this decision should be fired or quit because they don't agree morally/religiously. They should be grandfathered in as they were hired prior to a job description they have this issue with. If people want to quit or are fired just because they are generally opposed to gays/gay marriage is a different story.

Well, Cruz's parents weren't anti-American radicals either. Put the two together, along with Obama's refusal to release the normal background documents expected of a candidate, and it does have an unseemly appearance from the outside.

Except that it's only been defined that way a relatively short time and only in certain cultures. But yes, government shouldn't be regulating it, only recording it for later divorce purposes.

Through the ages? I assume you mean a very specific time range and a very specifically affiliated age.

Interracial marriages were not allowed "until very recently". Also in many cultures the wife was considered property of the husband "until very recently".

If someone is hired into a government job to issue marriage licenses and they refuse to do so, why should they be allowed to continue drawing a check against taxpayer dollars? Should a DMV clerk be allowed to refuse to issue driver's licenses to teenagers because they believe that no one should be allowed to drive until they graduate from high school?
