Again, enlighten me.

How does a 20+ year old now defunct business venture show alliance to a city?

Oh wait. Are you changing the narrative now? When did "allegiance" come into the conversation?

Isn't that what we're debating?

I've already acknowledged the now defunct Toyota plant as a "tie" to Jacksonville 5+ posts ago.

I guess the real question is do you consider a 20+ year business venture some kind of link to the Jaguars?

The Toyota automotive plant Khan used to operate from on Blount island.

Now please answer the question. This song and dance is really getting frustrating.

No offense. But you aren't striking me as the brightest bulb in the box.

Khan's ties to the city have nothing to do with him owning a plant or whatever you think it does.

Your inability to understand this shows in your extremely poor analogies.

At this point I dont know what to say. Did you not cite Khan owning a automotive factory in Jacksonville?

WHAT DOES KHANS 1980'S AUTOMOBILE PARTS FACTORY TIES HAVE TO DO WITH THE JAGUARS CIRCA 2013?

I'm begging you for a well thought out informative response. But I have a feeling I'm going to be disappointed.

Shame on you for being such a bully.  It's a battle of wits and you're pummeling an unarmed opponent! Laughing

Khan never owned a factory in Jacksonville. But he has been supplying parts to Southeast Toyota since the 80's. Here is a T-U article about his dealings in Jacksonville. The article is titled:

Shahid Khan's business got its big break in Jacksonville
I am not sure why so many are desperate to push this notion has no ties to the city.

For the record I hope the Jags are here two years from now and until forever. I will say I'm not totally sold on Khan. Even you agree that there is a chance the team may eventually relocate IF the fans don't do their part and that is what brings on my paranoia.

If you worked for a company for 18+ years and all of a sudden you found out that the company was bought by some rich mogul who has no ties to said company or the area in where its located. You know that there is a chance that they may decide to outsource your entire department even though you've met and exceeded every quota that was asked of you. The owner hasn't sent you an email stating that its NOT POSSIBLE , he instead sent an email stating that he will TRY to make it work and keep your department intact.

That wouldn't make you think long and hard about what's really going on?

I hope for the long haul we do our part and that's enough to sway Khan's decision in our favor.

But what if its not? That's what really irks me.

If the new CEO came in and said he wasnt firing anyone, upgraded facilities for the employees and said if you do your part and work hard, you'll keep your jobs then I would judge him by his actions. I feel more comfortable that this team is staying here then I feel worried that we are leaving.

We don't need to sway his decision. He is already committed to making it work in Jacksonville. We just need to keep supporting the team. Keep doing what we are doing. At this point it is reallyin Khans corner now. He needs to produce a better team on the field.

You keep going back to Wayne Weaver, but he is the one that sold this team to Khan. Wayne did that. If you are mad that this greedy money hungry business man is our owner then be mad at Wayne Weaver. He gave his full seal of approval.

I, for one, am not claiming he has no "ties" to the city, but I'm open-minded enough to know they are both exaggerated and mean little relative to a decision to relocate the team. "Ties", is this sense is a completely ambiguous descriptive.  Are they emotional? Financial?  How strong are they? To describe the physical location of a, now defunct, auto parts business from 30 years ago as a "tie" is ridiculous.  Has he bought the site and built a THIS IS WHERE IT ALL STARTED museum yet???  I didn't think so.

He's going to the bank, not down memory lane.  I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that, I'm just don't blinded by all the hype.

True.  I find it odd that some folks seem to think he should issue a statement regarding his commitment to the city every time another talking head decides to speculate about the teams future.

How many times is he supposed to say it before people believe he intends to try to make the Jaguars work in Jacksonville. He said it several times when he bought the team -  and I don't think he should have to repeat himself every time the Skip Bayless's of the world say something about LA or London.

Man - I sure hope they get somewhere near .500 next year so most of this crap will start to fade away.

Yep. Winning will help make it go away. We're an easy target at the moment.
