Mettenberger

Quote:I have no idea  why anyone would WANT either of these two QBs in the first. They are both prototypical system QBs. Cam Cameron isn't coming with Mettenberger.

what are you talking about?  These are pro style offenses.  there is nothing gimmicky here.  Its whether they have the physical ability to make the jump.

Not what I mean by system QB. They are both asked to be facilitators and not much else. Mettenberger was basically nothing until Cam Cameron turned him and the offense around. AJ is just a master game manager that makes Alex Smith envious.

Mett is a guy that can be very good in the NFL, but he needs a perfect pocket to work with.  He needs an elite offensive line to operate.  He's not the type of guy who will make something happen when a play breaks down.  He has a pretty deep ball, but man, he's just not the nimblest of players, to say the least.

With that said, he will end up being a first round pick.  I guarantee it.  For better or for worst, he will go in the first round.  I think, best case scenario, he gets selected in the first round by Houston or Cleveland, worst case scenario New Orleans takes him to sit behind Brees for a couple years.  Most realistic scenario is Arizona, mid-first.

I would have ZERO problem taking Mett in the second round, but you are passing up way too much talent if you are QB needy and taking him in the first 20 picks of the first.

He should go to Zona or houston if Keenster is a fluke

Us taking Mett in the second would mean Caldwell is not sold on Teddy, which I highly doubt.  If we don't take Teddy and Mett falls to round two, I wouldn't hate the pick.

But I want Teddy.

Only problem is, unless Mettenberger implodes he would be gone by late in the 1st. The boy can toss a rock, I would draft him if Teddy wasn't around, biggest thing is that he is in a pro style read progression offense, no gimmicks, no hams, straight up qb football

Pair Mettenberger with a top notch OC in the NFL and I have a feeling he'll have a long career.

Mettenberger is shredding Bama defense, if we miss out on Teddy I would gladly take Mettenberger or Johnny Football in the 2nd
