There's no question on this end that the Jaguars are far better off w/o Jeremy Mincey.   Even with his improved play the last year or two.

And almost certainly if the Cowboys give him a raise, they will see a reduction in effort. Just like the Jaguars got from him here.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least if this happened.    Even with Rod Marinelli as the Cowboys Defensive Coordinator.

I get that players sometimes have to do this to get all that they are worth, but this is Jeremy Mincey we're talking about here.

I don't see what leverage he could possibly have to warrant this move.

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!

Anyone know of a role player ever getting that big extension by holding out?

26 Career sacks...

3.25 per year.

set to make 1.5 mil this year.

How much does this joker want?

He LED the Cowboys with 6 sacks last year. I bet they can get that from rookie Gregory.

Let this dude sit at home and get tagged for 30k per missed practice.

A 31-year-old end with six whole sacks last year and he wants a big raise. Wow.

If I were Jerry, I'd use that money on extensions for younger players and let Mincey sit at home racking up fines. The dude's not breaking the bank by NFL standards, so he'd probably be inclined not to spend his entire 2015 salary on an extended vacation.

His salary for the year is $1.5M. Factor in up to $30,000 per day in fines, and multiply that by (I'm guessing) 25 days of camp. That's $750,000 he would lose, half of his salary for the year. The CBA also allows teams to go after portions of a player's signing bonus (I believe up to 35%) if they hold out past a certain day, and they can be docked game pay, 1/17th of their yearly salary, for missing preseason contests.

If Mincey was making $5-7M this year, it might be a gamble worth taking, but he's not. He's a 31-year-old role player making $1.5M this season, he's got intense pressure from below in the form of DeMarcus Lawrence, Tyrone Crawford and Randy Gregory, and he has zero leverage as a result. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Jerry sit back and watch the fines mount, then cut Mincey the day he reports. The Cowboys don't need him. They have better, younger players on the roster who can do everything he can.

I didn't know the $30,000 fines started the first missed practice.

He started all 16 games last year so he is a bit more than a role player.

He wants starter salary. I can't really blame him, although I'm not sure this is going to accomplish that. He is too easily replaced.
