Training Camp Twitter Update thread

Recent comments about Neal Sterling catching everything thrown his way accompanying the recent performances of Arrelious Benn highlights the competition for the 5th WR spot. I think the Jags want a large/fast WR that can contribute on special teams and possibly become another redzone target for Bortles.

Sterling has been clutch in camp. Washington has been catching my eye also.

I have noticed Clay Harbour being featured in many of the highlight reels over the first three days of camp. If indeed the Jags new offense is to emphasize the running game then I can see many more three TE sets with perhaps only Allen Robinson being the lone WR. Big WRs and TE can help in the downfield blocking. Such an Offense would be similar to that of the 49ers in years past. I could see a West Coast dink and dunk type offense that is ball control oriented. Add Marqise Lee in the slot and the big play is in the RAC yardage with downfield blockers opening holes in the secondary.

Quote:Methodical is how i would define brady, manning, rodgers and quick twitch is how i would define Antonio brown and Odell Beckham......I guess Brady would do bad with those Wrs when he has the mighty Brandon Lafell lol

Can we add Troy Brown, Deion Branch, and David Givens as quick twitch WRs?   I'm not sure I'm buying the chemical imbalance of mixing methodical with quick twitch either.

Frangie is much better without the audio.

Hayes Carlyon:

Bortles with a tremendous pass to Hurns for 30-yard gain in 2-minute drill. Hit him in stride over tight coverage in the seam.

Apparently Mike Bennett is killing it also..

Not surprised. I rewatched Alabama vs Ohio State the other day and Bennett was crazy disruptive n the trenches all game. Unbelievable how he fell to 6th round.

I know he had an injury during the offseason that limited him at the combine and pro day. But other than that, I could not understand why he fell so far. He was one of the best players left at the start of the third day. And then to get him in the 6th round was terrific.

Looks like Lee pulled up short in WR drills, was on the ground visibly in pain but walked off on his own. Hope it's nothing serious.

That's true. I love that we now take guys that are well known and have produced at school.

And it is still crazy to me that the Bucs took Ali Marpet from Hobart in the 3rd round ahead of AJ Cann. AJ was South Carolina's best lineman for 3 years and played the toughest competition... Marpet played D3 ball...

Idk I would just be shocked if Marpet is better than Cann.

I hate to be the pessimist here, but I just picture Lee having injury problems his whole career. Just a feeling I have about him, which stinks because he has the potential to be really really good. I hope I'm wrong on this.

Hopefully this is where he begins to stack those good days up headed into preseason.
