Training Camp Twitter Update thread

Just for the record, I do not believe that Nick Marshall will win the starting strong side CB job from Davon House.

I do believe that it is possible within the next two years that Nick Marshall could be vying for starter status.

If that happens, who knows what else may also happen.

I like what I am seeing from Nick Marshall and that is all I am saying.

Today's updates were fantastic.  Thank you Stigma.

Best thread on here in a long time.

Quote:The same issue is coming down with the CBs, where Nick Marshall is really flashing. His size at 6'1, 210 lbs says FS, but his footwork says CB. Marshall is fast in reaction and is not afraid to come into the fray. Given the trend of large WRs (like Neal Sterling) Nick Marshall is that sleeper CB that may end up being a future star for the Jags.

On Jaguars Today Ryan O'Halloran said the same thing about Marshall.  He said it's hard to believe he hasn't been playing CB all along and that he seems to have a nose for the ball.  Would be a steal if he can develop into a starting CB down the road.

Wasn't Marshall a CB @ Georgia freshman year before Auburn? Thought that's why he went after CB rather than WR because he was struggling to be a receiver in time for combine.

Yep, Nick Marshall signed with Georgia to play CB. He got in some trouble at Georgia and was dismissed from the team. He went to Jr. College and surfaced later at Auburn as a QB prospect.

Not sure how much actual playing time Nick Marshall had at CB when he was at Georgia.

I still think his QB mind combined with his athleticism just screams FS ball hawk to me.

Regarding the 9th Olineman over the 6th CB, I am thinking that a team can never have enough CBs. Since this 6th CB will be a special teams player as would the 9th Olineman, then I would think that a CB might be most of an asset on special teams than an extra olineman.

I really don't see the ballhawk aspect in Nick Marshall's game. His size and his speed running with Move TEs like Julius Thomas or Allen Robinson or even Allen Hurns, gives him the opportunity to break up the pass. I don't think he is at the point where he can anticipate the play and then step in front of the WR and take it away, although he did do just that against Henne a few days ago.

I guess, when I see Gus lining Marshall up at FS, I will consider that option, but until then, I think Gus wants him to play CB.

BTW, why not move Gratz to FS? Gratz seems to be the odd man out between McCray, House and Colvin.

I like CBs too, especially since we have been burned by the long plays as of late.  That being said, I would prefer 9 OTs with 5 Corners with McCray, House, Colvin, Gratz, and Marshall.  Bortles needs to be protected and we need to have healthy bodies to push passing lanes.

Let's be honest. If Lees hammy injury is the worst thing to happen in training camp and pre season, we are going to be just fine.

It has been and always will be about Blake first and OLine second. If those two pan out, this team will have a big turn around.

Nick Marshall starting corner? Wow that's some major high praise. I sure hope it's true and he's balling out there. I can't wait to watch preseason.

If I had to guess I would say the starting corners, including the nickel spot would be McCray, House, and Colvin.
