If anything, he's being hammered from the sensible right and the would-be liberal media.  While Hilary would LOVE this guy as her competition, neither her nor her confederates are seen supporting him.

 

He's a product of anger, and to a lesser extent, delusion, and it is being driven by the angriest and most delusional right wing zealots.

 

That being said, he's winning polls.  We'll see if he can win anything when his competition thins and it's time to cast a ballot.

People are CRAZY if they actually think its a good idea to have someone competent negotiating trade deals?  people are crazy because they don't want to get killed by an illegal alien?  People are Zealots because they want someone competent in the white house?  

 

If trump was just some nut job congressman who had never done anything then i would be more inclined to disagree, but mostly you have a group of people in the republican party who are sick and tired of seeing candidates who act embarrassed all the time.  

 

John McCain was a war hero during Vietnam, he was an embarrassment as a candidate.  An absolute EMBARRASSMENT.  Mitt Romney laid down like a poodle in the last two debates.  He was right about benghazi and he was right about our military draw down.  We lost both of those fights in public opinion because he was a pansy. 

 

I think that's why in the latest NBC poll you see Trump Cruz Carson Fiorina and Rubio in the lead.  that's over two thirds of the party that doesn't want to see an establishment yes man go piss away an election because they don't want to look MEAN!

Megyn Kelly actually asked a valid question that Donald Trump obviously didn't like regarding things that he has said in the past, and she pointed out that it wasn't "just Rosie O'Donnell".


Donald Trump turns it around and makes it "all about him" and implies that she was attacking him personally.


Facts are such difficult things for some people to grasp.

I said " the first thing" she asked him. . You're right..facts are difficult for some to grasp. There were answers that were false and misrepresented by the " contestants".

As far as the Rosie comment, you thought it humorous, so Trump must have some favorable assets in your assessment.

I agree - there is a lot of emotion out there - but many seem unclear what they are mad about. To me, it seems that they are looking for John Wayne. If we only had a real man running (even if it's Fiorina). So many Trump supporters, so little known about him.

 

I tend to think that many Trump supporters don't even vote or keep up with  campaigns. If you can't find a viable representative of your views across this spectrum of Republican candidates, well it seems to me you just want to whine. It's sad to see the Republican Party become a bunch of whiners. Trump would be Whiner in Chief.

Let me ask you this.  How do you think that the FOX News moderators handled the debate?  Was it fair?  Do you see any candidate being treated more or less favorably?

 

I would just like to keep these thoughts and discussion in mind once the democrats have their first debate.

 

   In an earlier post in this thread,  you did a good job of illustrating that specific questions were asked to the candidates regarding their history.   With highlighting the question asked of Dr. Ben Carson.    Republican Candidates need to be prepared for what the media,  the Democrat Party,  and their other allies will throw at them.    The only candidate who didn't seem to grasp this is Donald Trump.    The immaturity that Trump displayed during the debate and since the debate by itself is alarming.    Let alone the way he's flip flopped so many positions in recent years.   

 

 

   The disappointing part of the debate for me as a Ted Cruz supporter is there was around a 40 minute period that Cruz wasn't asked any questions.   Cruz handled the situation extremely well,  which what I expected.    For now,  I'm going to give the moderators the benefit of the doubt regarding Cruz's airtime.    There were 10 candidates in the debate and it's a difficult task to balance out the time factor for each candidate.   Having said this,  if a similar thing happens with Cruz in a future FOX debate,  then I'm going to come down on FOX hard.   

 

 

   One related thought.   I only wish that Ted Cruz got the amount of airtime that Donald Trump did.    Even with limited air time,  Cruz went all the way up to 2nd place in the NBC poll that came out the other day.    With much more airtime,  I believe Cruz would have been in the high teens in that poll instead of at 13 %.   

 

   As for Megyn Kelly,   I respect her more than most on FOX and certainly more than most in the media in general.

As a US Senator Ted Cruz gets plenty of air time - and all of it free. And he'll get more in future, when he once again threatens to close down the government (over Planned parenthood or whatever seems useful at the moment.)

 

And I wouldn't really worry about poll numbers this early. They mean virtually nothing. As the media has made clear numerous times, past high poll numbers this early and the eventual nominee are just coincidental.

    As a Conservative Republican,  I'm convinced that John McCain and Mitt Romney weren't tough enough to win.    That was my biggest issue with both of them.   To the point that I refused to give Romney even a penny in the campaign once he won the nomination.   Instead,  I supported PAC'S that at least recognized that political correctness was not going to defeat Obama.  

 

  Though the 47 % comment hurt Mitt Romney,   he never went on the Offensive after the Obama campaign,  the media,  and others working to keep Obama in the oval office attacked him non stop.    People can say what they want about Newt Gingrich but at least if he was the nominee he would have made Obama sweat.  

 

   Along the lines of what jj82284 expressed,   many Republicans are desperate for a Presidential Nominee that isn't a pansy in the general election campaign.   The problem from my perspective is many have latched on to Donald Trump,  who is anything but a Conservative based on history even this century and this decade.   Ted Cruz represents what these people are truly looking for.   I hope they see it before it's too late.

I know you are all for government controlled limits on campaign spending (i.e., the Incumbents Protection Act) but you are going to have to do better than this. You want to limit free speech because Hillary went to Trump's wedding? Really?

   Before the Presidential Campaign,  most people probably didn't even pay attention to what Ted Cruz said.   Sadly,  most people probably never heard of him or didn't remember his name if they saw him on the news.

 

   Now is the time that Ted Cruz truly needs the air time.   If as expected he continues to do what I believe is right,   that will earn him airtime.   The left might actually give him airtime thinking that he's so far to the right from their perspective that the airtime will hurt him.    I certainly hope this is their strategy.    

 

  The benefit to being higher in the polls at this time is it increases the chances of getting more campaign contributions.   The greatest obstacle candidates far down in the polls have is many people are unwilling to give them campaign contributions because they believe they can't win.    My personal approach has been to support who I believe is the best candidate.   Even though in most of those cases I didn't have confidence the candidate would win,   having that person's voice in the campaign was worth the investment.
