He completed 11 of 15 passes, but when you factor three drops into the mix, his Accuracy Percentage of 93.3% demonstrated a strong performance from the sophomore. <p style="font-size:12px;color:rgb(75,75,75);font-family:'Gotham SSm A', 'Gotham SSm B', Gotham, sans-serif;">Top 5 graded players: <p style="font-size:12px;color:rgb(75,75,75);font-family:'Gotham SSm A', 'Gotham SSm B', Gotham, sans-serif;">Nordly Capi (+3.4) <p style="font-size:12px;color:rgb(75,75,75);font-family:'Gotham SSm A', 'Gotham SSm B', Gotham, sans-serif;">Chris Smith (+2.7) <p style="font-size:12px;color:rgb(75,75,75);font-family:'Gotham SSm A', 'Gotham SSm B', Gotham, sans-serif;">Tyler Shatley (+2.1) <p style="font-size:12px;color:rgb(75,75,75);font-family:'Gotham SSm A', 'Gotham SSm B', Gotham, sans-serif;">Jeremiah George (+1.9) <p style="font-size:12px;color:rgb(75,75,75);font-family:'Gotham SSm A', 'Gotham SSm B', Gotham, sans-serif;">Blake Bortles (+1.8)" We show less advertisements to registered users. Parnell graded lower than Joeckel yet everyone is so upset at Luke and no issue with Parnell...

Quote:Parnell graded lower than Joeckel yet everyone is so upset at Luke and no issue with Parnell... Sorry. I watched the game. No way Joeckel played as well as Parnell. The PFF guy needs to put down the crack pipe. "Why should I give information to you when all you want to do is find something wrong with it?" Quote:Except for 1 and arguably 2 plays, Joekel played well. On 3 plays, he blocked 2 guys. And on 4 plays, he pushed 5 guys 6 yards.
Quote:Parnell graded lower than Joeckel yet everyone is so upset at Luke and no issue with Parnell... Well their grading system is junk then
What does one have to have done in a previous life to get assigned the job of tracking and grading performance in the first preseason game of the year?

Parnell's false start is why he's graded lower. He received -1.0 for the penalty, which makes up the majority of his negative grade.
Joekel got crap for his performance, but it wasn't deserved. He played well. However, he is obviously worried about the bull rush. What happens when he faces pass rushers who have a variety of moves along with a bull rush?
I wouldn't say Luke played well... he played ok for most of the game. The problem is it appears that a few times per game, he may have a breakdown that could cost us a sack or a turnover.
That's the concern as I'm now seeing it. He's got to be consistent

No one is expecting him to play at a pro bowl level this year, but he needs to just be solid 99.9% of the time. Not this stonewall one guy then get run around by the next.

Quote:We demand Full Consistency!!!!!! I don't demand anything. I'm just a fan I have no power. Consistency is all that I hope for though. I don't mind if Luke gives up occasional pressures or even gives up an occasional sack but he simply cannot get abused like he did Friday. He was beat so quickly and thoroughly that he didn't give Blake a fighting chance and nearly led to a turnover. That's never acceptable.

Parnell was a human wall. On a screen pass he managed to slow down three guys on his own. One play he threw the linebacker 10 yards across the floor. That grading system is a disgrace and the people behind it should feel bad.
If the Jaguars could trade Luke Joekel for even a 3rd or 4th round pick they should do that, and then try to trade for a decent LT or give Young the starting role.

For those whining about the fanbase being tougher on Joeckel compared to Parnell. Please do understand this, he was a top three draft pick entering his third year and he's been highly inconsistent whether it was due to injuries or lack of ability to workout during the off-seasons. Therefore, the fanbase is going to be a lot more harsh on him compared to a guy playing at a less premium position on a new system still gelling with new teammates in a new system. And, consider this, he completely got WHOOPED by Harrison and allowed Bortles to take a critical hit that resulted in a fumble. That's why he's getting dinged a bit more. And I can understand that completely.
Bortles impressed me though with his response by getting 16 or 17 yards on the next hook-up to A-Rob for the 1st down. That's what you want to see in your franchise QB. The one play where he stepped up and avoided two potential defenders on a would be sack and just missing Hurns for the TD was the most impressive play of the night. As they said though, take back the drops and the kid was basically perfect on the night. It's early, I won't get overly excited, but if he can play like that all year we'll be in business. ![]() "What do I know of cultured ways, the gilt, the craft and the lie?
