Dan Skuta got blocked in the dirt a couple times
|
Not sure if his job is to take out the lead blocker or not but I watched him get blocked to the ground more than once.
I didn't see any 'engage and shed moves' or anything to try to make a play. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:Not sure if his job is to take out the lead blocker or not but I watched him get blocked to the ground more than once.I did not notice him on those plays. On the early long run in the first quarter, I know he got sealed off. Could you elaborate? Was he pancaked or did he allow someone to get to his legs? At what part of the game did these plays happen? Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!
He took out the knees of a pulling Guard early in the first quarter and Poz made the tackle. Another play the RT released the our DE and went to the next level amd sealed him off to the ground.
He just didn't get off blocks very good last night. Quote:Not sure if his job is to take out the lead blocker or not but I watched him get blocked to the ground more than once.I don't recall the play so I can't speak specifically on this situation. Generally, the first defender to get there takes out the lead blocker and tries to plug the hole. He is supposed to stop the progress and allow someone else to clean up the play. Quote:He took out the knees of a pulling Guard early in the first quarter and Poz made the tackle. Another play the RT released the our DE and went to the next level amd sealed him off to the ground. The pulling guard is trying to block a different player at the point of attack. You are supposed to disrupt a pulling player to allow the targeted player to remain unblocked and able to make the play. The second incidence sounds like he might have just got beat. could care less... our problem last year was our LB's let every tight end in the league run a 15 yard seam route uncontested. If he's actually in the right place I don't care if he's not the next Brian Urlacher.
No pain, no gain.
It's not like these guys are going to come free every single play folks. Remember the guy across him is just as much a hard working professional as our guys are. You look at any player ever and you'll see that this is the case. Some plays are designed to do things like occupy player A or B or both to free up another.
In the first couple series, I noticed Skuta getting engulfed and being taken out of the play, also. Hopefully, he shows more the next time.

the big run he seemed to set the edge and the line didn't do the job, thats not something I anticipate happening often with Miller and Odrick being there.
Go Jags!
*To stay up for atleast 2 years 3/6/17 2016 draft players I think will be good
Quote:So you are saying there might be a reason he rode the bench in SF? He started 10 games last season
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS

Gus said he's getting additional preseason reps because he has the most to learn out there.

The linebacker play was hard to watch and judge without any of the starters on the defensive line playing. Gap management is important when you have a 9 tech/LEO. The linebackers really just fill in the holes that the play is funneled to in this type of defense. Let's see how it looks against the Giants.
Quote:I'm a little concerned about speed when both Poz and Skuda are out there.True, But Telvin has speed to burn, and ideally we want to bring Cyp in the box on early downs. Skuta will be off the field in obvious passing downs, unless he has his hand in the dirt. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:True, .....he might as well not even suit up against the Colts
Quote:And before that? Dude I would give anything for you to grow a Y chromosome and quit yer [BLEEP]. Players are capable of developing, ya know? |
