Cecil Shorts praises Blake Bortles
|
Nice comments from the former Jag on Bortles:
"He's tough. Determined to be great," Shorts said Monday, via Jayson Braddock of KFNC in Houston. "I think he'll be a superstar in this league." http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000...or-jaguars We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Nice to hear from someone who has nothing to gain by just putting on a supportive front. Totally agree with him!
Just posted this on the Bortles progression thread lol

Cecil looked good on that TD catch and run he had in the tinhorn's first preseason game.
I am just shocked that he isn't injured in some form or fashion by now.
What lies behind us, and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.
Quote:Cecil looked good on that TD catch and run he had in the tinhorn's first preseason game. He'll have a "hammie" before long. Over/under in how many regular season games he plays in. I'll put the number at 7. That being said, it's cool that he has that much respect for Blake. There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those who understand binary and those who don't.
I'm sure Billy'O is delighted with Shorts' perspective. Me thinks Houston would be favored to win the AFCS if they took Bortles or Teddy over Clowney
Quote:I'm sure Billy'O is delighted with Shorts' perspective. Me thinks Houston would be favored to win the AFCS if they took Bortles or Teddy over Clowney It certainly would have their arrow definitively pointing up. I look forward to the shocked look on texans fan faces as the Jaguars pass them up in the standings. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! "Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, if he gets angry, he's a mile away and barefoot."
I like seeing things like this, not a current teammate or someone who "needs" to praise him but someone who truly believe in Blake.

Shorts has also been a pretty stand up guy, but there are a lot of people who indirectly drop negative hints about past players. Few rarely come right out and praise them

Class act response but he also defended Henne strongly, its what he does (which is very smart) he doesnt bash people especially not QBs that can enhance his career.
If he stays healthy, that's a nice duo with DeAndre Hopkins.
After years of searching for wideouts, to think that we can now let go of WRs who start in other teams... Makes me wonder, where would Shorts rank in our depth chart?
Success is a journey, not a destination. Go all out Mighty Jaguars.

Can't blame Caldwell for letting him walk, the guy couldn't be relied on. But the Texans may have gotten themselves a steal.
Make the Jags Great Again
Blake Bortles......YOU'RE FIRED! Dave Caldwell.....YOU'RE FIRED!
I'm just ready to start seeing some pre-season praise and hype translate to the regular season. In fact, I've been ready for that for 6 or 7 years now.

So to you, 'healthiness' factored in, Shorts > Hurns and Lee?

We still don't quite know what we have in Hurns, Lee, and even Robinson with them all going into their 2nd year. Shorts had a ridiculous 2nd year and looked like he was well on his way. It seems the concussions and leg injuries have taken away some of that big play ability he had early on. In my opinion, had he not been so injury prone, he would be a 1000 yd receiver and signed with us long-term.

I like Cecil, he was a beacon of light in some of the dark years we had recently. A damn shame he was injured so much and didn't really "click" with Blake like ARob or Hurns did last year.
