I doubt it. His salary is almost all guaranteed around 2 million.

Meanwhile Pasztor is on a one year, minimum salary deal with zero dead money if released.

For a third pick of the draft, third year player, shouldn't we expect more from him at this point? Still expecting him to gain confidence at this point of his career seems kind of silly. If he doesn't turn his game around this year, he needs to go. We don't need another Alualu sitting on the roster.

 

Agree.  The larger point being it's not time to lose faith or cut bait right now.  At the end of the season is another story.

 

The thing about giving up on players is that you never know if it's too soon.  By the time the Chargers realized Brees was for real, they'd drafted another star.  That's the best case scenario, letting a good player go (a lot of that had to do with injury questions but the point remains) because you have another one in hand isn't necessarily a bad problem.  It's only a problem if you can't recoup some of the value in trade.

 

Turnaround or not, I expect him to have competition at the least next season.  Possibly replacement if there's no significant bounce.

The Shatley love seems real. I wonder how many Olineman they plan to keep? If it is only 9 then Pasztor or Wells is gone.


Joeckel, Beadles, Bowanko, Linder, Parnell, Cann, and Wiz all seem to be locks. That leaves Shatley, Wells, Pasztor, and Young fighting for 1-2 positions.

 

We certainly do have competition at the position.

 

Wasn't long ago there wasn't competition at OL, CB, and WR.  Just the best of the worst.  How times have changed.

 

I would think Beadles, Pasztor, and Wells would be the men on the bubble.  Beadles may survive if they think Cann needs more time.  Crazy that Pasztor is only 24.

Pasztor can play RG or RT so that may help him.  There's a lot of depth at G and C.  It's an interesting problem.  Other teams might be pouncing on Jag cuts at certain positions like OL and CB.
