I really do feel bad for RG3, I really feel like if went almost anywhere else he could have been a real star.... Somethings just not right with this team.

I know there is some complication with his 2016 salary being guaranteed at the high number if he is injured. But I imagine he gets released this offseason. I wonder where he goes. For his sake he should probably go somewhere where he can sit on the bench and recover for a year.

Disagree.  He was a rare talent coming out and probably could (and perhaps should) have become a quality NFL QB if he weren't destroyed by his team.

His speed is rare, and he has a big arm.  Other than that I wouldn't consider his small frame, inability to read defenses, inability to play within the pocket, and below average accuracy to be a rare talent.  

 

32 fumbles in 37 games.  


he is and was an overhyped QB in a class that gave us Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III, Ryan Tannehill, Brandon Weeden, Russell Wilson, Nick Foles, Kirk Cousins, and Ryan Lindley, Case Keenum and Austin Davis.  You could make the argument he is the 5th best from that class

 

His TD% per attempt has gone down each year in the league and his INT% per attempt has gone up.  


The guy was overdrafted, the media overhyped him and his first year put blinders on everyone else.

Rg3 is a product of a win now philosophy. Rather than developing all the tools a qb needs, the redskins took what he was good at and built an offense around that skillset. That's fine until teams figure it out or those skillsets diminish due to something like injuries, which both occurred.


He can save his career by going to a different team when his contract is up, and learning the nuances of quarterbacking from the bench.

Change a guy who has failed to adapt to the nfl version of the position he played to one he has the physical tools to play. FS is not known as a major tackling position unless everyone on the defense failed and he would be a liability tackling until some development takes place.  Lots of college option qbs have made the conversion

He looked like another Troy Smith, Pat White, Denard Robinson.  The difference being he has a better arm than all of them stronger more accurate.  Was aware of his highlights but i'll admit didn't watch many of his games.  Played in a weak defensive conference in a system that perfectly fit his talents that doesn't always translate to the nfl once a bunch of DC's get their hand on a seasons worth of film.

PFT is speculating that he wasn't concussed at all, and another reporter shares in their skepticism. Their logic is that Washington used the concussion diagnosis to keep him from having to address the media after the game.

Dude, you just don't know what your talking about. For one, Griffin is 6'2" 223. The only way he's undersized is if Aaron Rodgers, who stand 6'2" 225, is as well.

 

Griffin was highly-rated by just about everyone coming out of college for the same reasons Michael Vick was. In retrospect, that should have been a huge red flag (and to lots of casual fans, it was), but you were hard-pressed to find a scout or draftnik that didn't like him. The only one I can think of off the top of my head is Nolan Nawrocki, but he's pretty much a Grand Wizard when it comes to evaluating highly-rated black quarterbacks. There weren't any obvious, huge red flags surrounding Griffin at the time beyond the lack of pro-style experience, but that's been overcome before by QBs with the physical and mental tools that he had coming out.

 

I'm not defending RG3 as a great quarterback, because clearly he's not, but the man wasn't overdrafted or overhyped. Everyone with a voice agreed going into the 2013 draft that it was Luck, then Griffin, then everyone else. Honestly, if Griffin hadn't been neutered by the Shanahans and ruined by injuries, I think he'd have wound up a much better player, and I'm still not convinced that his career couldn't be more than saved by a move to Chip Kelly's offense.

Go back to 2010 and look at how many people on this board were going nuts over getting Gabbert, and how he was going to be so much better than Cam Newton. Then look at the board around the time he was traded and see how many of those same people were saying that they "always knew he'd be a bust". I do think  6'2 223 is undersized if you are going to be a running qb.  Brunell, Steve Young these guys were similiar builds and ran often then had their careers hurt from that size and constant desire to run.  Steve Mcnair was slightly bigger and still was constantly hurt from running.  The difference between Aaron Rodgers is that he does not need to run to give defenses problems.


That class was Luck, then Griffen, then everyone else I am saying the analysts and scouts who said luck was 1a and Rg3 was 1b were dead wrong and that makes him overhyped.  


Calling a prospect who lacks the measureables of Luck, the experience in a prosystem, with a prior acl injury equal to the best prospect since Manning or Elway is overhyping a guy.  


I think he would be better in a Chip Kelly system but I also think its only a matter of time before his running ability is going to put him in a situation where severe injury is a certainty.


You are right though, I did try very hard to like Gabbert.  Thank god Bortles makes it easy.  Atleast Cam has the size to play the way he does although i'm still not sold on him.

I can agree to that as far as development goes I think he is more following the Mike Vick path.  Vick never really developed as a qb his stats are kind of similar every year int he league,  McNair seemed to get the most out of his talent a few years in.


Just seems to me that RG3 has done nothing but go backwards since entering the league.
