There's no depth to the scale. It's not relatable.

Just look at the -2 to 2 graphic and "explanation." It's completely enigmatic.

There's no meaning behind the measure that explains the significance of the distance off center zero. The "explanations" don't give an idea of how that applies in different circumstances. It explains how they would grade it on one specific person in one specific context, which isn't comparable to all players in all situations.

Had they translated or otherwise referenced these values into ABCDF grading (or something similarly meaningful), the system wouldn't be so useless.

That's nice and all, but this was what stood out to me in that article.

For instance, what happens to Jeremy Harris' rating if instead of giving him a pass breakup deep downfield, they call him for pass interference for face guarding. Another ref very well might have.
