Announcer's booth crew

#1

I really like the Sunday night crew of Chris Collinsworth and Al Michaels.  IMHO, Collinsworth is the best out there.  His anecdotes and insight keep things interesting.  He was brutalized by the pregame crew when he was at Fox and I could never understand why.  Personality conflict, I guess.

I like them too they complement eachother well. Only thing I don't like about them is Chris Collinsworth's beavis like head.

Maybe because of his time on "Inside the NFL"?...

The Dream Team announcer's crew would be..

Chris Collinsworth (someone with insight)

Erin Andrews (someone worth watching  Love )

John Madden (someone to laugh at)

Al Michaels has always been my favorite PBP guy. He is one of the few announcers who did not play or coach in the NFL, but seems to know everything.

Cris Collinsworth is not as good as John Madden was, but I have heard enough bad color analysts to think he is good enough for the job. What I loved from him tonight was pointing out despite the big crackdown on helmet collisions, the worst concussions actually are caused by the head hitting the ground like Watson's did.

BTW did anyone ever see him play? He was a wide receiver for the Bengals.

I wondered what happened to Erin Andrews after seeing Heather Cox working with Brent Musberger, but for the NFL, I still like Michele Tafoya.

I like all 3 NFL prime time crews that announce NFL games.    But there's one crew that stands out on this end :  The NFL Network tandem.

If given a choice to listen to any analyst,  w/o question Mike Mayock would head the list.   Mayock's insight on players around the league is in a class by itself.    When it comes to Thursday Night Football,   the teams are secondary for me.  Brad Nessler does an excellent job complimenting Mayock.

I saw Cris Collingsworth play in countless games,     There were more talented WR's but Collingsworth found a way to get opened regularly.    He ran great routes and caught the ball consistently.

Interestingly,   the year Collingsworth was drafted by the Bengals in Round 2,   they drafted a WR in Round 1:  David Verser.    He played his college ball at Kansas.   Verser was a speedster but was a huge bust on the NFL level.

I'm still partial to Gus Johnson that he'd have to be part of my dream team.  That emotion on that Hail Garrard Pass..

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Gus is terrific.

Is he still announcing NFL games?    He hasn't been an announcer on any of the games I've watched this season.

I think they've got him doing the other football now.  Shame, he's got the enthusiasm you want from an announcer.  How Joe Buck is still doing football makes me shake my head.

While I like Joe Buck both as a football and baseball announcer,   it's disappointing that Gus Johnson isn't doing NFL games.

Here's a clip of the David Garrard to Mike Thomas game winning pass and the call!

Other announcers try to show emotion, but only Gus Johnson is a natural at it. I was not happy about his move to Fox either.

What is wrong with Joe Buck? He seems fine to me.

Joe Buck has little to no emotion.  It's fine for baseball, but for the Super Bowl, that Tyree Catch... show at least a little excitement.

That is probably an old habit from announcing baseball games. Despite that, I love what he says and his conversations with Troy Aikman.

In the playoffs last year I got the strangest feeling that Joe Buck was attracted to Aikman.  (Note that I am not using that as an insult, and believe in equality).

I just think the man could show some emotion when a OMG catch like the one Tyree got was made.  Like Gus Johnson's brilliant reaction to the Hail Mary.  I'm sure it is from his days in Baseball, and I'm sure he's a wonderful baseball announcer.  But football... you gotta get some excitement.

While I'm the furthest thing from a Vikings fan,    Paul Allen,  their play by play person on the KFAN network is an announcer I think you would like.     One thing about P.A.,  he's not boring:

Speaking of Paul Allen. Nothing will beat this call:

Definitely the best production value by far. Not a huge Collinsworth fan but Al Michaels is about as good as it gets.

I am no fan of most of the Fox teams.

On CBS, I like Ian Eagle/Dan Fouts. Fouts has always been underrated I think. He was good on MNF but that team was ruined by the Dennis Miller disaster.

I hated Ian Eagle when he pronounced our quarterback's name Jarrard, but he was good when Josh Scobee scored from 59 yards out for the game-winner.

Dan Fouts was the guy who kept looking for reasons to say "three feet down" after the silly MSW touchdown call.

My favorite CBS team is Jim Nantz and Phil Simms.
