I read it earlier and there's a lot of nonsense.

So, the Jags and LeBron James are responsible for the Fins lackluster attendance and overall lack of interest in the team? This is the greatest article ever.

The guy is obviously clueless. For some reason, 1010XL is giving him airtime tomorrow to talk about this nonsense.

Just search jaguars in the search bar on website.

Maybe I'm lost on the logic, but the article states the Jags are dragging down the Fins because they (the Jags) have Orlando...but wouldn't moving the Jags to San Diego create the same issue since he's saying the Raiders and Chargers could share a stadium in Carson.

Why would they do this? Other than to give him facts and set him straight.

Taking the Jaguars out of the equation,  if the Chargers move to Los Angeles,  it's highly likely that the Rams or Raiders will be joining them.   If this happens,  I doubt the NFL will want a 3rd team in Southern California.   The NFL's focus will be to build up the much bigger LA market.    If San Diego wants NFL football,  they need to find a way to retain the Chargers.

And the worst part I think he is going to be on the unlistenable Hacker show. If I was 1010XL, I'd get Ballou a 12 pack of Miller Lite and let him have at this guy.

The NFL will not put a team in San Diego after the Chargers move to LA. That would completely defeat the purpose of consolidating the NFL's southern California efforts into LA.

I can see the attraction of an owner wanting to be in SD based simply on the fact that with a new stadium they would essentially be guaranteed to be in the Super Bowl hosting rotation.

On another note, California is an absolute mess financially. I don't think an owner who is already getting tax dollars to support his causes would move across the country to a city that does no such thing. I also don't know how state tax affects Khan's income, but I imagine that would play some role.

Also, moving the team 3 hours West doesn't coincide with Khan wanting to extend the London thing. The Jags are in the best place geographically if this is what Khan wants to continue to do.

The guy is clearly throwing crap against the wall and I don't think any of it is sticking. Oddly enough, the word London is not mentioned one time in his article.

1. They'd never get a new stadium. San Diego has had over 20 years to figure something out for the Chargers, and they got nowhere. San Diego County will not throw public funding at a stadium, meaning that it would have to be completely privately-financed by the new team's owner. With two teams based two hours north in LA, the San Diego market does not justify that sort of investment.

2. The NFL would not allow San Diego to have a team if the Chargers move to LA. I mean, that's just the nature of the beast. Every single LA-based NFL team has failed because of what ultimately amounts to fan apathy. I'm honestly surprised they even want to screw around with two teams in a market that has repeatedly shown itself to be incapable of supporting one. Moving the Chargers there is almost a no-brainer, as many of their San Diego fans would remain loyal to the team, and it's a fair bet that quite a few of them would make the two-hour drive ten times a year to watch their team play. Moving the Raiders down also makes sense, as the Raiders are a pretty popular team across the board, and they still have a lot of fans in LA.

But now let's say that you move a team to San Diego to replace the Chargers. One of two things happens, and neither one is good. Either the new San Diego team pulls away a large number of Chargers fans, and that hurts the Chargers in LA, or Charger fans stay loyal to their team, drive up the coast, and the new San Diego team posts attendance numbers that would make their owners want to just pull one big tarp over the entire stadium. The San Diego market is not big enough to support two teams, which is essentially what you'd be asking it to do by removing the Chargers and moving in a new club.

As far as the NFL in San Diego goes, it's the Chargers or nothing. Given that San Diego and the team have been going back and forth on a new stadium for almost 20 years with nothing to show for it, I think the NFL would be perfectly happy to move the Chargers up the coast to a nice, new facility in Carson and leave San Diego with nothing. It hurts my heart to say that--I spent three years in SD and consider it to be absolutely the best place I have ever lived--but the football culture there is awful, the city and county governments are indifferent to the Chargers, and the citizens of San Diego County have consistently voted down any effort to fund a new stadium. No owner in his right mind is going to walk into that minefield, even if the NFL was willing to let someone put a team 100 miles south of its two in LA.

This guy is so fact averse it is pathetic.

He mentions opposition to Khan's shipyards plan.

What political opposition?!?  When the proposal first went before the city council, it was overwhelmingly chosen over two other competing Shipyards proposals.

Why would Khan move from a superior stadium to an obsolete one?

What would San Diego's attendance be if they had the same record over the same time span as the Jaguars?

He said Jacksonville has a bad stadium situation, "just off the podium."

Based on what?!?

Khan and the city have invested millions in upgrades to the stadium.  Has that idiot seen those video boards

and the locker rooms?

Sporting news just ranked it in the top 6-7 stadiums in the league.

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!

Quote:Khan bought the team in 2012 and has the motivation to get out of Jacksonville because his relationship with the local government there is every bit as stressed as the one between the San Diego city leaders and the Chargers. Khan is trying to get a $500 million development done through his company Iguana Investments, a mixed-use area full of office spaces, restaurants and a new training facility for the team. His proposal is a combination of public and private funds but it’s being held up by political opposition and an EIR (where have I heard that before?).

Huh?
