MJD still hasn't rushed for 100 yards

Could it also be just a slow progression coming from his Lisfranc injury? They can't all be like AP. Some people just heal differently. I would like to seem him back for one more year on a reasonable deal and have his replacement drafted and mentored. As was mentioned above.

It's the nature of the position. We see a few guys do the Emmitt Smith career, but there are scores more that have 3-4 good years, 2-3 declining years, and then get traded as a backup where they last one season.
The little man was a special back, but clearly he is on the downside of the career slope.
The best running back in the league would have a hard time getting 100 yards when he's having to fight off first contact behind the line of scrimmage as consistently as MJD is required to do so. The line is terrible in run blocking. There aren't any holes that open up for long enough for any back to get through. MJD isn't in his prime, but he's not done either after watching him over the past few games. I just don't know what we can expect when the guys supposedly blocking for him are in his face almost immediately after the hand off.
Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
Let's not forget his production Sunday catching the ball out of the backfield. (Screen pass on 3rd and long for a first down was huge)
4 catches on 4 targets for 33 yards.
Quote:Fred Taylor was a first class mentor for MJD. Hopefully if truly maturing he will do the same for whoever we draft as his replacement next year. He has lost two, not one step and will be interesting to see if he agrees to a contract commensurate to his diminsihing value/ productivity or jumps at the first chance to jump ship. For me this will determine his total legacy as a Jag. It seems the Caldwell youth movement will dictate MJD's future in Jax. I doubt he's here next year. Quote:It seems the Caldwell youth movement will dictate MJD's future in Jax. I doubt he's here next year. I really hope you're wrong! MJD has been the only brightspot for so long on this team. I'd hate to see him leave. I think if he tests the market and sees that there really is very little out there, he might decide to stay. I think MJD is has 3 more really good seasons in him. Don't take this season as the sign that he's done. I have a strong feeling he's gonna have a great season in 2014. I hope its in a Jaguar uniform.
I personally don't think MJD looks any worse skill-wise now than he did in 2011 or early in 2012. The line is atrocious at opening holes.
And in other news... the OL hasn't proven they can block a Girl Scout Troop...

;

; We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! ![]() In case you haven't noticed, all of our running backs have horrible stats. There is simply nowhere to run. Between a backup LT, a scrub and backup at LG, and old man Meester, no running back is going to produce. It speaks volumes of MJD that he's even at 3 yards a carry. He's getting hit at or behind the line on every single play.
The lack of burst isn't due to age, It's impossible for a back to lose that much speed in one season purely due from aging one year. It's the lisfranc. This type of injury just takes a long time to get back from. He's still in the same shape he was in 2012, where he was on pace to easily eclipse 1,000 yds. IF he's here next year, you'll see. He has about 2 good seasons left in him and then i say he's done.
Quote:This... Remember that group that thought reshad was better than MJD? Lol!!!!!! Quote: Mjd is the man. I really hope they rejuvenate the line next offseason then sign him cheap for the short term. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
I thought he was doing well yesterday, his stats didnt look as good as i thought he did....
Quote: I agree that the line is terrible. In light of that, how can you accurately evaluate any of the RBs on our team? Quote:Mjd is the man. I really hope they rejuvenate the line next offseason then sign him cheap for the short term. That is exactly what I am hoping for with him poz and Lewis If we can resign or ask them to renegotiate them to smaller contracts each will be worth their weight as we have too many holes to replace our vets right now Added we definitely need to bring back Blackmon ball and marks off their one years add Hayes to that list if he keeps playing like he did yesterday Add in the rookies our wr core and patzor and I call that a framework to build around
Quote:I agree that the line is terrible. In light of that, how can you accurately evaluate any of the RBs on our team? You watch what happens when there is a hole. MJD is straight through and intobthe secondary. He did pretty much that in the first drive. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

It was a bit of a rhetorical question aimed towards this... Quote: A little contradictory. Quote:Please elaborate how Todman is 'horrible'. I've seen this from another poster as well. I don't see how ANYONE can make an evaluation when he gets 3 or 4 touches a game. ![]()
The Center/Guard play this year has been horrible. The pressure on the passing game has been straight up the gut. The penetration into the backfield on run plays has been awful. The second half was total domination from the Titans line. Honestly if their offense hadn't given the game away it wouldn't have been close.
