This is my favorite part

In fact, many former New England coaches and employees insist that the taping of signals wasn't even the most effective cheating method the Patriots deployed in that era. Several of them acknowledge that during pregame warm-ups, a low-level Patriots employee would sneak into the visiting locker room and steal the play sheet, listing the first 20 or so scripted calls for the opposing team's offense. (The practice became so notorious that some coaches put out fake play sheets for the Patriots to swipe.) Numerous former employees say the Patriots would have someone rummage through the visiting team hotel for playbooks or scouting reports. Walsh later told investigators that he was once instructed to remove the labels and erase tapes of a Patriots practice because the team had illegally used a player on injured reserve. At Gillette Stadium, the scrambling and jamming of the opponents' coach-to-quarterback radio line -- "small s---" that many teams do, according to a former Pats assistant coach -- occurred so often that one team asked a league official to sit in the coaches' box during the game and wait for it to happen. Sure enough, on a key third down, the headset went out.

Bill belicheck and Tom Brady's HOF bids should be thrown out. This is a major stain on the league. 4 championships have now been called into question in the last 15 years.

Can't wait to see whats next.

Why is this all of a sudden all coming out?

Who knows, but ESPN may have done more digging after the new allegations came out.

The longer employees are away from working there the more stuff they are probably willing to talk about.  Of course they aren't going to throw their employer under the bus at the time.

Regardless, there was a culture within the Patriots of cheating.  From "minor" things to really big things. Stealing play sheets, stealing signals, rummaging through coaches/players stuff at hotels.  Pretty crazy.

And believe it or not there's still people out there today who defend these guys.

Seriously...I have Tom Brady in my main Fantasy league, and he does not need any more distractions before Thursday's game.

What i mean is, why didn't this come out when the whole deflate gate thing happened? Why wait until its a few days before the season starts?

I get a kick out of seeing a national writer put something out there about it. You can count on about half the replies to be from guys with Tom Brady as their profile picture.

Didn't Vic used to say the Jaguars' headsets always seemed to have some kind of malfunction at Gillette Stadium but almost never anywhere else?

I seem to remember reading about this from Vic too.

Yes. And I am sure that was the case.

Yup. I remember someone from the Colts also mentioning this.

Yes, and I saw a clip one time of Del Rio and another assistant talking to each other about when their headsets would go out.  I can't remember if it was the first or second quarter, but they went out intermittently.

It's sad when its well known around the league and nothing is done about it.

Yeah, I saw this over the weekend.  Nothing shady about this at all.

A guy at work just gave up after the ESPN article and me bringing it up to him, but if you go on Twitter there are still Pats fans that will defend them like nothing ever happened.

Brady won.

Which is interesting, because it makes Goodell and the shield look that much worse, in the way that investigation (and response) was handled as well.

Agree.

Instead of enforcing the rules, or conducting productive investigations, Goodell is more concerned with covering up what he can, when possible.  Keep it "in house" at all costs.  And if you can't, desperately seek a scapegoat.
