JAGUARS VS. PANTHERS PREDICTIONS

Quote:Heaven forbid some fans are optimistic about their crappy team at the beginning of the season. I'm sure you thought you would come here and insult our team and we would all agree and bow down to the juggernaut Panthers and Cam Newton's greatness.

Fact is, most of us here realize we are a bottom team. We probably won't win many games, but compared to the actual good teams on our schedule, the Carolina game is our most winnable early on.
THAT'S RIIIIIIIGGT

Quote:I was checking out the Panthers forum, and they don't seem worried. Most of them see the Panthers winning pretty big

Panther fan here. Even with the rose colored glasses that come with being a diehard, I don't see the either team winning "big".

The panthers are not built for blowing people out so I would think the game remains close for the most part. Jags have had a bad reputation over the past few years but to me Bortles has a lot of upside and you seem to have pretty good receivers. In contrast, my Panthers are starting Ted Ginn and a 2nd year UDFA who is fast and can get separation, but currently has a case of the yips. Not counting Olsen, I think the next best WR we have is a tie between our 3rd string QB and the French Canadian OT on our practice squad. ( I may be exaggerating a tad but I think you see where I am coming from).

That said I still think/hope the Panthers win mostly due to our D and running game making a few plays but believe it will be a close game in the 17-14 ish range. Hoping for a safe injury free game.

Quote:I'm amazed at the 27 points prediction. You have eclipsed 25 since December or 2013, now you're a juggernaut?

Yeldon had 10 yards on 8 carries. 1.1 ypc?

You do realize this is a JAGUAR'S board filled with JAGUAR'S fans right?

Thank God we have some panther's homer here to straighten us out.

Now go away.

Vito said on 1010xl today that Gabbert played well in the preseason too, but I dont rememer Gabbert ever being anywhere near as good as Bortles has been, thats 2 years in the row in the preseason that Bortles lite it up

I think Blake has a huge game Sunday

I agree.

I think Blake could have his best game to date this Sunday.

man how cool would 300 yards 3 tds and zero ints be?

and a win???

Panthers defense is the story of the game, generating three turnovers and setting up the Carolina offense with great field position.

Panthers win 24-10

Not very good? Maybe not great but consider the Panthers were right there against the Seahawks in the divisional playoffs with 7 minutes to go in the 4th quarter.

A "not very good team" doesn't hang with the Seahawks in Seatttle in a playoff game, even if they are missing Kelvin Benjamin this Saturday.

Saying that, the Panthers under Rivera are notorious for having horrible starts to the season, so it is possible they come out flat.

As the weeks have gone on I've gotten less and less optimistic about this game.

I think we're rating our offense far above what it actually is as this point, improved from last year no doubt but still a work in progress.

I dont think panthers D will have too much trouble with us bar a few big plays.

If our D stops the run we can win a tightly contested game.

Fair enough, I think Yeldon is a talented guy, but like Funchess and every other rookie he's a complete unknown. That was my point in that comment.

for what its worth, ill take an educated guess and say....

Jags - 23

Panthers - 21

Pull out a squeaker here, but its not all positives...

Yeldon struggles ( 55 all purpose yards )

Denard (30 all purpose yards )

Bortles - 2 TDS, no ints - 245 yds. with 25 yards rushing

Hurns - 1 TD, 75 yards receiving

I'm not sure why people think TJ is some weak RB that will struggle. He played for ONE quarter and it was his first game since the scrimmage. And it wasn't just him that got shut-down, it was the entire running game with Gerhart, Pierce, and Denard. I'm not counting on 100+ yards on Sunday, but the coaches have seen something we haven't.

I don't see YJ as weak at all, but keep in mind he is a rookie in his very first real game against a widely proclaimed top-5 defense.
