Vikings and primetime games

I was looking at the Vikings schedule earlier this afternoon. Unless I missed something, the Vikings were scheduled for 3 prime time TV appearances. That by itself is probably on the low side for a team that made the playoffs last season. The problem though gets back to the mistake the NFL made by scheduling the Vikings 3 times on prime time TV in a 4 week period. If the NFL would have spread out the Vikings prime time appearances, this thread very likely wouldn't exist.

Actually it would because the Vikings get three night games and we only get one, but they are not much better than us. With a RB who had the 2nd highest single season rushing total in NFL history. This is for the most part why the Vikings have two more prime time appearances this season than the Jaguars. The Vikings also have one more national TV game in the regular season than the Lions, which currently have 4 more wins this season than the Vikings.. The prime time / national TV decisions for the most part are based on how the teams did the previous season. If the Jaguars win 9 or more games in 2014, expect them to be on national TV at least 3 times in 2015.

Going 10-6 will not be enough for us if we miss out on a wild card spot. I disagree. With the 13 week Thursday Night Football package part of the NFL landscape, it's hard to imagine any team with a winning record being on National TV less than 3 times in a season. In addition, if the Jaguars end up with 9 wins next season after their recent struggles, they are going to be a story NFL fans around the country will want to follow in 2015.

I will be praying for us to be the 2014 version of the 2013 Chiefs. Quote:I will be praying for us to be the 2014 version of the 2013 Chiefs. It will be difficult for any team to have a turnaround like the Chiefs did this season. Even with having multiple Pro Bowl players returning from the 2012 season 2-14 team. Having said that, with a likely top 5 draft pick and boatload of salary cap space, the potential is there for the Jaguars to make a huge jump in the win column in 2014. |
