Midseason Playoff Predictions
|
Well, since we're half way there and I think the old predictions got dumped with the old forum, what are your playoff predictions for this season at the mid-way point?
I've got something like this.. AFC 1. Broncos 2. Colts 3. Bengals 4. Patriots 5. Chiefs 6. Titans NFC 1. Seahawks 2. Saints 3. Bears 4. Eagles 5. Lions 6. Panthers Superbowl Broncos vs. Saints with Peyton picking up ring # 2

As of right now, I'd put the Jets in ahead of the Titans. After the Tacks beat us, they'll be tied record wise, but the Jets have a good chance to go 4-0 coming out of their bye. Tacks have two against Indy and at Denver in their next 4 after us.
AFC division titles:
East: Patriots North: Bengals South: Colts West: Broncos NFC division titles: East: Cowboys North: Bears South: Saints West: Seahawks AFC wild cards: Chiefs Jets NFC wild cards: 49ers Lions

Quote:Packers vs. Broncos for Super Bowl I would love that, but don't see it happening. If the playoffs were tomorrow, the Packers would be out of it. Quote:I would love that, but don't see it happening. If the playoffs were tomorrow, the Packers would be out of it. The reality is the playoffs are a long way from tomorrow. While the Packers are in the battle of their football lives to reach the playoffs, if they find a way to make the playoffs and both Aaron Rodgers and Clay Matthews are relatively healthy, they will be a dangerous team. Three seasons ago, they won the Super Bowl as the 6th seed. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Clay Matthews is back. Aaron Rodgers is out 4-6 weeks, which includes Thanksgiving in Detroit.
Quote:Clay Matthews is back. Aaron Rodgers is out 4-6 weeks, which includes Thanksgiving in Detroit. Clay Matthews being back certainly gives the Packers Defense a boost. But it remains to be seen which players will be relatively healthy for the playoffs. Some injuries limit a player for quite a while even when they come back. Also, sometimes players suffer a different injury when trying to compensate for the injury they are trying to play with. As for Aaron Rodgers, the reports on when he will be back have varied. Until/ unless Rodgers is listed as Out for the Thanksgiving Day game in Detroit, I'm going on the assumption that there's a good chance he will play that day.

I read the Thanksgiving game is "closer to three weeks than four" and because of that, a more likely return date is Week 14 against the Falcons.
J.W., it's more of a situation from my perspective that if at all possible, w/o taking tremendous risk, Aaron Rodgers will play in Detroit on Thanksgiving Day. I'm looking at the situation as a Lions fan. I expect my team to be prepared for Rodgers unless it becomes crystal clear that Rodgers won't be able to play in that game.

AFC:
1. Denver Broncos 2. New England Patriots 3. Indianapolis Colts 4. Cincinnati Bengals 5. Kansas City Chiefs 6. Baltimore Ravens NFC: 1. Seattle Seahawks 2. New Orleans Saints 3. Detroit Lions 4. Philadelphia Eagles 5. San Francisco 49ers 6. Arizona Cardinals Colts > Ravens Chiefs > Bengals Lions > Cardinals 49ers > Eagles Colts > Patriots Chiefs > Broncos Seahawks > 49ers Saints > Lions Chiefs > Colts Seahawks > Saints Super Bowl: Seahawks > Chiefs
I was wrong about Trent Baalke.
Quote:Why the Cardinals? Well the quick and honest answer is I was down to them and the Saints and picked these teams before the NO/Dallas game. I don't think Arizona has an impossible schedule down the stretch although it'll be an uphill climb in that division.
Quote:Well the quick and honest answer is I was down to them and the Saints and picked these teams before the NO/Dallas game. The Saints are winning the NFCS, guaranteed. So it is between them and the Panthers. I like Carolina for the NFC wild card because the Panthers are on a five-game winning streak. Quote:The Saints are winning the NFCS, guaranteed. Why is it guaranteed that New Orleans is going to win the NFCS? I would agree that the Saints should be considered the favorite to win the division but it's far from a lock. Quote:Carolina still has two games remaining with New Orleans. Why is it guaranteed that New Orleans is going to win the NFCS? Because New Orleans was the last NFC team to lose a game. Quote:Because New Orleans was the last NFC team to lose a game. However, as you mentioned earlier, Carolina has a 5 game winning streak. During that more recent time span, the Panthers have been the better team.
