Quote:I don't know the Oline has improved and some of the pressure & sacks was Blake Bortles fault, but when I watch other teams play it sure seems as if their QB has more time to relax than that of the time Blake is given.

Before Joeckel got hurt, it wasn't an issue. Sam Young was a disaster and his presence changed the game.

His helment was removed and he got punched in the face, I think thats bad enough for Young.

I don't think PFF understands what our LE does.

Vino, am I reading this correctly? The Jags aren't the worst team in the league as I've been lead to believe by certain members of the board?

This is a persistent issue with PFF, they treat our 5-tech as if he's like any other 4-3 DE.

Quote:idk how we managed to not bring in any play making WR. We can't even attempt to throw deep. We make routine 5 yard catches really hard.

Errrr....I hate to be the guy to break this to you but we haven't had a "play-making WR" in almost a decade.lets not act like this was some recent slip up.

Let's hope that with WR Lee returning to practice this week (side not DT Marks to return WED too), will mean an improvement to the passing game this week.

Quote:I never said we need a receiver the caliber of Bryant and Jones, but we need a competent #1, I don't see it in A-Rob and Lee is always hurt. The Patriots arguably have the best QB & TE of all time (Gronk is also a beast in the run game as a blocker which keeps defenses honest) and the Seahawks have had one of the best defenses in the last 30 years, their path's to success are a bit different. If your receivers don't pose a threat in the pass game it allows D coordinators to simply take away a tight end like Julius Thomas with bracket coverage, the Jaguars were able to take away Greg Olsen (rather easily) yesterday, mainly due to the ineffectiveness of Carolina's receivers.

What is Allen Hurns chopped liver?  He was open a few times watching the Game and Blake Bortles chose not to throw to him for whatever reason..

Allen Hurns caught 5-of-7 targets for 60 yards Week 1 against the Panthers.

Hurns was basically the Jaguars' only downfield threat against the Panthers. Hurns would have had a long touchdown late in the first quarter, but Blake Bortles' throw forced him out of bounds at the one-yard line. Bortles connected with Rashad Greene for a touchdown two plays later. The clear No. 2 receiver in Jacksonville, Hurns will remain a boom-or-bust WR4 next week against the Dolphins. -Rotoworld

O-Line graded out pretty well. WRs? Not so much.

I dont understand why Blake didnt throw more to Hurns as he was open on a few occasions where he chose to throw to Greene instead (whom caught 7 out of 13 targets)?
If Blake Bortles wouldve thrown those six extra times towards Hurns, I assume Hurns wouldve had a TD.

Quote:I noticed Denard blocked well yesterday as well. Glad both him and Yeldon put in solid performances.

Actually one of the blitzes that got t Blake was a missed pickup by Denard, it looks like.

I was telling everyone not to buy into the Arob hype after the scrimmage and preseason.

Always felt we had one draftable guy...and he's hurt (Julius)

Not sure what game they were watching, but our special teams graded out as a positive 1.0?  Imagine how high that would be if we made the XP and the FG!?  Also, the 37 yd return by Tedd Ginn....??

One of these years.............
