Thankfully Berman and Dilfer will only get that one game all year. They were awful.

I don't mind the regular crew at all, but the Dilfer/Berman pairing wasn't good.

#1 -- FRANGIE IS THE WORST so I wouldn't state 1010xl is better.

#2 Berman is terrible.

#3 Gruden is ok but I'm a little tired of his high praise for everything.  Heck last night he gave praise on the opening drive of how the Eagles Offensive Linemen are able to sustain their physical conditioning at that pace over the course of the game.  Isn't that something you should state in the 4th Qtr ?

Let me tell you something about this Guy right here! This GUY is just a true student of the game. This GUY always impressed me back in his college days. You wanna talk about a playmaker well this GUY right here is one.

That's my Gruden impression. I don't think he says players names just "this guy."

Chris Berman is one of my favorite studio guys. What I want to know is why did two guys who work in studios get put in a booth for game analysis?

As for Trent Dilfer, he is obviously a 49ers fan. I heard him heap praise on San Francisco players all night long and no similar comments about anybody wearing purple. How ironic that was for a former Seahawks quarterback.

I have always liked Mike Tirico and Jon Gruden, but agree they are not as good as Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth on Sunday nights.

The usual MNF announcers are my favorite current NFL TV announcing team.   But the analyst I prefer above all others is no longer on NFL games.   Regardless of which teams played on Thursday Night when Mike Mayock was doing the commentary,   I either watched the game live or taped the game.    I have nothing against Phil Simms but his style of announcing doesn't appeal to me.   I don't know why,  it's just a preference issue.

was the worst I'd ever heard.  Dilfer getting excited was horrible.  but I think the biggest highlight of their awfulness was I think Dilfer saying "those guys are gonna be really tired if they have to re do that punt cause of the penalty."

Go Jags!
*To stay up for atleast 2 years 3/6/17
2016 draft players I think will be good
  • On the Fournette train, will be best back of his class 3/6/17
  • Lattimore please,  Lockdowns on both sides would be nice
  • Engram at TE and the MJD clone Samaje Perine

I still can't believe that Brad Nessler and Dick Vermeil are not a broadcasting team. I've always thought Nessler was very good as a play by play man, and Vermeil adds the right amount of gravity to calling a game. Then again, I'm an idiot so you should probably not take anything I state seriously.

ESPN was looking for two personalities that would provide knowledgeable commentary and mesh well in the booth. Clearly, they could have done better than Berman and Dilfer, but that was probably closer to their thought process than finding a pair and available commentators for one game.

Dilfer is also a former 49ers quarterback, his family is close friends with the family of legendary 49ers QB John Brodie, he grew up in the Bay Area, and he went to college at nearby Fresno State. I think his ties to SF run a little deeper than his ties to Seattle. Wink

Speaking of, did you ever see the ESPN special that that wackjob did where he runs a QB clinic? I really didn't think a grown man could emanate that much drama queen aura.
