The Giant Fire Gus & Dave Thread (MERGED)

The morning after and this thread title still makes me laugh.
It takes a special talent to suck the happiness out of a guy like Gus and this team managed to achieve just that. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

Quote:There really is no reason we shouldn't beat the clots next week, they've been struggling all season. There is no reason we shouldn't be 3-2 after Tampa. But I'm not sure this team can string back to back wins together. I can't remember the last time we had back to back wins. It was 2013, weeks 12 (@ Texans), 13 (@ Browns) and 14 (Texans). Quote:Yes but the problem is not enough progress. It is to be expected because we are installing the second system in 2 years for a 2nd year quaterback. It takes time to work out these things for a ridiculously young team. We are painted into a corner where we can only go forward with what we have. The team can't really sign too many veterans at this point because the young guys need the reps. So maybe you shouldnt completely overhaul your roster then? I mean, nobody else does it, and we seem to be the only franchise consistently struggling this bad under thenew cba. It was their choice to go this route, now they have to face the consequences. Quote:If it took two to three days to get over the Panthers loss will it take five days to get over this one? I'm not over the Panthers loss. Pathetic play calling in the 2nd half. "Why should I give information to you when all you want to do is find something wrong with it?"
Quote:We got our butts handed to us by the most dominant, albeit, controversial at times, best football team in the NFL over the last 15 years. Move on.... It's not that. It's that the Jags just rolled over and took the beating. No smashmouth. No blitzes against a mostly rookie OL. No making Belichick pay for starting Brady to keep running up the score after the game was long since decided. Sure, we all expected the Jags to lose. But Bradley needs to be held accountable for the failure to even try to win, or to just make a statement that "the Jags may not be the best team today, but we're the toughest." "Why should I give information to you when all you want to do is find something wrong with it?" Quote:But i think you just offered a great reason for blowing it up. If he's making questionable personnel moves (trading monroe and drafting joeckel, not bringing daryl smith and knighton back), wouldnt keeping him around just result in more damage down the road? Idk that we've seem enough "hits" in terms of draft picks. His record hasnt been stellar in that regard, and his free agent signings have been OK at best. I'm willing to wait another offseason with Caldwell but you won't catch me crying if he's gone at the season end. I'm hoping it all magically comes together but honestly I think caldwell could end up being worse than gene smith. When I say I don't advocate blowing it up I'm referring to the roster. If we do have a new GM/coach I want them to keep some of the young talent instead of gutting this roster like Caldwell did. Gutting a roster never works it takes to long and requires a perfect draft strategy solid free agents good development and a little luck.
I love how Knighton is suddenly a huge loss. Aside from one good season in Denver, what's he done?
We'll just ignore the fact that he had no intention of re-signing with the Jaguars. He fully intended to follow Del Rio. He wasn't coming back. But hey, let's put that on the GM. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Bradley was the right hire by Caldwell for the first stage of the plan i.e clearing all the deadwood, getting young talent and blooding them early. He's full of energy to keep them motivated after the inevitable defeats, and to be honest I think he's done aswell as could be expected.
I just can't see Bradley coaching us to the playoffs despite being in a terrible AFC south and thats just not good enough. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
