The Giant Fire Gus & Dave Thread (MERGED)

Quote:This!! There is enough talent in place to not lose a crap game like this! Maybe not compete with the Pats yet, but this is inexcusable.

Its funny that just about everyone here agree that the Colts stink especially without Andrew Luck and that our roster is so much more talented than theirs, yet believe that of the 53 talented players in this "talented' roster, not one of them could muster to make a play to win the game for us. Not a gamebreaking run or catch (although Yeldon almost had one), not a kick, not a game-sealing tackle, sack, interception, or fumble.

The coaches aren't good enough, the players aren't good enough, the player evaluation isn't good enough.

Quote:Agree. Caldwell is safe for now.

Bradley?

Some pretty dramatic improvement has to happen at this point for him to keep his job. It's looking pretty unlikely that's going to happen.

Oh wow!  I spoke to soon!  My apologies!!!

You realize there will not be any dramatic improvement that will save his job ...  Bradley doesn't have it in him to be successfulll...

Firing Bradley now changes nothing...  Might has well cut the cord now.   No reason to keep that loser around to contaminate the team any longer.

Quote:Uh...  Just FYI...  But Gus doesnt' really work...  This is a rebuild.  He doesn't think anything is really important untill after the rebuilt is build.  And Gus still thinks we are rebuilding.

No need to work the refs, or work anything, when you're still just practicing.  Gus thinks this is all practice...

Ah but according to Dave we are built?

The talent on the team beats the clots...

The coaching on the team loses to them...

We're built in terms of players.

Our coaches suck...

I don't think Caldwell is the problem as well--it's Bradley. The guy is just not cut out yet to be a NFL head coach. This franchise needs to stop bringing in young defensive minded coordinators (ala JDR) and expecting the next John Madden.

And yet A-Rob, our #1 WR can't shake man-to-man coverage to make plays consistently against their top corner?

yet, our #2 pick LT struggles to block against Robert Mathis?

our young rookie kicker, who we chose to keep over a veteran kicker (who may or may not be as good), can't make a FG to get us a win?

our veteran center, can't snap a ball to our quarterback properly to preserve field position?

our fastest and best cover LB, got spun like a top for what was essentially a game-ending catch by their TE?

Go on, let's keep on believing that coaching alone prevented each of these guys from actually uh, winning their match-up against the guy lined-up opposite of them.

We scored 13 in the first half. Why couldn't we score a single point in the second. Why has this happened 3/4 games this season?

Coaches don't win individual battles, but sometimes you have to change the coach anyway.

Because the team is littered with young players who are inconsistent?

The straight up ineptitude in the 2nd half of nearly every single game falls DIRECTLY on the coach.

Bradley is not a good coach, this is not an opinion, it a fact that gets more evidence every sunday.

NFL GMs frequently get a mulligan on their first head coaching hire, for the simple reason that GMs are harder to replace than coaches. If Caldwell's picks had shown nothing or he had a string of Gene-like off the wall drafts full of sleepers and reaches, I'd be more in favor of letting him go. As it stands, he's found talent in his drafts, his free agent batting average isn't too far from the norm, and the flashes of talent have been there. It's clear, imo, that coaching alone is what's dooming this team.

AR15 played great.  Go back an watch the game.

LT had his problems, but how many sacks did he give up?  He played well...

our young rookie kicker, who we chose to keep over a veteran kicker (who may or may not be as good), can't make a FG to get us a win?

We gave up Scobee to get him, I think it was smart call.  Have you seen Scobee's success this year???  Dude, you're making stupid arguements.

our veteran center, can't snap a ball to our quarterback properly to preserve field position?

This I can argue,. but won't.  It was a bad play...  It wasn't the reason we lost.

our fastest and best cover LB, got spun like a top for what was essentially a game-ending catch by their TE?

We lost this game for alot of reasones, whatever play your are referring to I don't remember...

Yeah, it was all coaching, sorry.  But I don't think it's because we lack talent.  We have plenty of talent.  We have no coaching.

See, I think this is what a lot of people are glossing over. I think offensively, we didn't do well adjusting and scheming our receivers open instead relying on them to win their match-ups. Today, especially int he 2nd half, they couldn't.

On the flip side, our pass-rush was practically non-existent if we only rely on individual match-ups. However, I thought we schemed it up with our stunts and used it to create pressure when our individual match-ups couldn't do it. We probably don't move Hasselbeck off his spot if we didn't scheme our rushes.

So young players can only play in the first half?
