The Giant Fire Gus & Dave Thread (MERGED)

Quote:And how about the GM? Is he not held accountable? I mean, he DID hire the coach. He DID gut the roster. He DID do the drafting AND the signing of the free-agents. 90+% of this roster was his choosing. Is he not responsible for this mess?
The GM? Yea.... Some of it can fall on him. The problem is that I actually think he's done a good job of bringing in talent. The problem is that Gus isn't getting the most out of this roster.

Do you think Gus is getting the most out of this roster? Honestly, do you?

A good coach gets the most out of the players he has and Gus hasn't done that.

Yes on Mike Smith. Atlanta letting him go 2 tough seasons after 5 straight winning was silly. Now look, the talent he helped bring in is 4-0. You can't expect a coach to be red hot 100% of the time (unless you are the Patriots). Give Mike Smith another chance!

Khan went through 4 coaches in 2 years with his Fulham team. I highly doubt he retains Bradley if we go through another 4-12 season.

What if the team finishes the season at 4-12 or worse and Khan decides to keep Bradley. How does this fanbase react to such a decision?

I don't post much these days but here it is. Today was 100% the fault of the coaches. Whoever it was that said Gus will be fired around mid season called it.

Mike smith actually doesn't sound too bad. And he won quite a few football games in atlanta. If you remember before they went 3-13 last year they were a good second half away from playing in the super bowl

What does firing Gus midseason do? If we're firing him before the season is over it means the season is a wash anyway. Might as well see how he finishes.

That was my question, even if he needs to go, what is the benefit of doing it now?

This season is a wash. Denial doesn't change the outcome.

Quote:I truly, truly think Gus Bradley is a good person, and that he has invested a lot of his time on this team.

With that said, he hasnt offered anything remotely close to being a reason for optimism. His time is through. Ideally this would have worked out, but you just cant argue with the results. It's all bad. Cant win in the nfl averaging 13 points a game on offense. Cant do it.

It is sad as we all had such great hopes for his and GM Dave Caldwell's success. This game shouldve been a win, but the Offense failed to launch yet again.

I understand the team is injured but that is the GM's job to bring in talent when injuries occur (see the rest of the league and trades made for key positions for example).

The Hiring of Mularkey as Head Coach was a head scratcher to this day but GM Dave Caldwell & Gus Bradley gave us all hope. The media further added to our optimism with all the great praise for Gus yet the team has no real superstars. Every year the Offense & the DEFENSE (which he is supposed to be this great Defensive minded HC) continues to be the worst in the league. The DBs every year for 3 years are the leagues worst (32nd ranked) in Interceptions.

This year th eonly guy with an INT is the MILB Poz,

Look, I am furious over this loss because they had so many chances to win an easy game against a divisional opponent on the road but it makes no sense to fire Gus Bradley at this point in the season. I highly doubt many great coaches would want to come in at this point of the season.

That being said if the season continues in this manner I can't see any scenario where he remains the jaguars head coach & for that matter that Dave Caldwell remains as General Manager.

If that should happen I want a real Head Coach like Bill Parcells, Bill Cowher, Joe Gibbs, Mike Shanahan,Marty Schottenheimer, or if they are too over the hill then Jim Harbaugh, Dick LeBeau, or kyle shanahan
