Quote:1 You're also more likely to accidentally shoot someone than you are to shoot an intruder. 1. Ok? You would rather the person just accept that he is about to be robbed, raped, or murdered? 2. Ok? That's a personal problem and has no relation to gun ownership. 3. proof We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:Where did you get that stat from? Also nobody can come and throw lightening at you so at least you can avoid it in a storm. Stats are from the FBI. My level of education is irrelevant. Don't try and turn this on me. You have yet to prove any one of my numbers wrong nor provide any numbers of your own. You are clueless and it shows.
Name all the tyrants that Americans have killed on American soil. I'll wait for the list. Surely it'll be long.
I was wrong about Trent Baalke.
Quote:Name all the tyrants that Americans have killed on American soil. I'll wait for the list. Surely it'll be long. No. You said there is a 0% chance of ever taking down a tyrant with a gun. I want you to prove it.
No tyrants have been taken down on US Soil in the past 239 years. So the odds are practically zero. Especially when you consider any tyrants today would have drones. So good luck with that if we ever get a tyrant.

I think it's an education issue. Very trusting of all stats and always assuming causation.

I don't think you guys are total lost causes, and I believe you can be convinced to see the light. Just not tonight  . For now, keep drinking that media milk.

Quote:USA highest prison population in the world land of the free? And why? Because people like you want to criminalize everything including our God-given right to armed self defense. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato
Quote:USA highest prison population in the world land of the free? That's not a gun rights issue. That's a whole different, unrelated topic. Basically, our government is stupid when it comes to criminalizing things and sending people to jail. For-profit prisons might have a little to do with it, but that's a different conversation for a different day.

I'll just leave this here for our friend from down under.
There is also this. Yup. Taking away guns sure solves the problem. ![]() There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those who understand binary and those who don't.
I'm just gonna throw this out there.. I am willing to bet most of you remember exactly where you were when Columbine went down. I know I do. It was an event so senseless and tragic I equate it with the Oklahoma City bombing (I also remember exactly where I was for that). Regardless of what side of this argument you are on, isn't it a bit sad that these are becoming so commonplace that we don't even remember all the names or places so clearly? Aurora.. Oh yeah. How could I forget Sandy Hook? Just saying..
Only a chump boos the home team!
Quote:So that's all well and good but how do you know someone is about to pull a gun on you in advance to get yours out. I feel bad that you are so scared of people with guns that you have to carry one to feel safer. If someone nearby is armed, maybe they can stop a killing spree at one or two dead instead of nine or a dozen or more. In this case there was plenty of time as the shooter had time to question his victims first on their religion.

So unless you can stop all shootings for ever it isn't worth preventing large massacres?

Regardless of what side of this argument you are on, isn't it a bit sad that these are becoming so commonplace that we don't even remember all the names or places so clearly? Aurora.. Oh yeah. How could I forget Sandy Hook? Just saying.. Let me offer this perspective. As someone born and raised prior to cable television, violent movies and video games and the internet, we were taught about things. One of the things taught to me was gun safety and proper use when I was in 5th grade. We were offered a Hunter's Safety Course at our school taught by our PE coach. Part of the class involved real guns and demonstrations on how to properly handle, shoot and take care of them. This took place in my elementary school cafeteria. The last part of the course involved actually going out to the "range" to shoot different firearms. Our "range" was actually out in the desert (hills west of Albuquerque, NM). After successfully completing the course and firing real guns, we got our certificate which enabled us to be able to acquire a hunting license. As a 10 year old I was deemed responsible enough to carry a weapon to go out hunting. I was also able to go to a firing range to shoot any weapon legally. Today in schools, kids get suspended or even expelled for making their fingers look like a gun or biting a pop tart into the shape of a gun. Gun education isn't allowed in schools anymore. People are afraid of guns and why? Perhaps the movies shown on cable TV and the internet. Perhaps part of the problem is violent video games that kids play today. I do believe that part of the problem is proper education. There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those who understand binary and those who don't. |
