Teddy Countdown

Quote:Just watched the draftbreakdown video of UConn. It's crazy how much more polished he is than any other QB in college. He looks like a machine. His footwork is going to make scouts drip at the combine.
Of course, that is why he will have great success with this team. He is Luck, but smaller and better pocket presence.

There is no reason why this team can't turn around and be 8-8 or 9-7 maybe even better.

He has all the tools physically and mentally to be a type flight qb at the next level.

I am book marking these threads so I can bring this discussion up a year from now

Quote:Actually I said Bortles was a "scrub" on football futures, someone called me out on it here.

I was wrong, 3rd best qb in the draft
its ok man i have teddy, carr, and bortles as my 123 also. not sure whats going on with mettenberger i was high on him a few weeks ago but hes just been average and he shows first round flashes.  mariota played well this week when he became a one dimentional pocket passer but im still not a fan of dual threats.

And he has a stronger arm than Luck

That is my top 3 also, I think Mettenberger needs to be drafted by a qb guru who can bring out his best consistently. Seeing Kaep and RG3 regress like they have this year has proven that dual threat qbs are not long lasting. The only dual threat who has converted with some what long term success has been Cam Newton. He put up stats due to shear physical ability but now I think he is starting to get it together in terms of throwing from the pocket. He is patient and goes through his progressions.

Watching Mariota or Hundley in Shawn Watson's offense would be pretty painful.

I should clarify myself, Coming out of college, Luck's one weakness was the extra umph on his deep passes, he has worked on that

Bridgewater and Lucks arm are neck and neck at this point for me

Here ya go....

Passing 19-29 for 203 yards -- 45.0 QB rating

Rushing 4 for Negative 20 yards

45 must be the QBR, not passer rating, by comparison, Henne's best game this year was a 48, and is at 25 for the year

still just looking at the stats, doesn't seem like it was a terrible game, just not great.

He was under pressure literally everytime dropped back. Absurd O-line play.

If Parker would have made it to the end zone on his great pass to him, it would have been higher. He was downed within the 5 I believe.

Basically stats are an awful way to evaluate a QB other than completion percentage within context.

good he should be well prepared to play for the Jags then

yeah the QBR is pretty good stat too, but still doesn't take in account how penalties, drops, and OL play affects the game

but at least it gives something to the Teddy detractors something to hold on to

He will be, he has extremely good pocket presence, knows when to get the ball out, moves up and around in the pocket like an elite qb

QBR is a joke stat created by ESPN.  I don't care how good/bad it makes anyone look.  It's ridiculous.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Could not agree more. They so desperately want to reinvent the wheel.

Tim Tebow's QBR was 86.0 his senior season. Good thing that translated so well into the NFL... not... You have to evaluate on mechanics and intangibles. You have to actually watch him play, not just see his stats and make assumptions. Teddy is going to be good. Just relax and wait for him to come to us...

don't know much about it, but I thought it was a better indication of QB performance compared to traditional passer rating

what I totally don't get, is why there's 2 different passer ratings for college and NFL, at least QBR is same no matter what

Any stat whose algorithm isn't released to the public is ridiculous in my opinion.

Also they add a bonus for "clutchness" which enhances 4th quarter stats. So two QBs with identical stats can have two different QBRs because one blew out a team and got his stats in the first half, while the other got them in the 4th quarter.
