He did make the plays he had to make in those SB games. Can't take that away from him. But no, a truly "elite" QB that does not make. The entire body of work should be considered. We heard the same thing with Harris, Smith, Mularkey, on and on it goes and we are the ever rebuilding club of the decade.

What I have seen so far from Mr.Caldwell shows me no true genius, nor from Gus and his man Fisch.

For the love of Everything Holy, there is not a center in the NFL or College or at Target stocking boxes that can snap the ball and block better than Meester?

They look like the same lost crew as the last crew, making cuts that are head scratchers, plays that are head scratchers, yes we can argue about Cox and others and everyone has an opinion, and it may be right or wrong. But did we get any better in the off season with the product put on the field now, today, tomorrow? Millions under the cap space and did we get any better?  No, I do not think we did, and our 32nd ranking sort of backs that up. That is not a genius organization. Unless it's to make money while spending less than everyone. Then I guess they are Mensa Material.

 

I love the Jags, I support the Jags, I do not understand the Jags right now, they did not stay the same, they went backwards, and for everyone that says you have to go backwards to go forward, well that is what all the losers say.

We will see, it's early, but c'mon, lets stop it with the "tank it talk", fans actually writing off the season, and in effect giving the current regime a total free pass on an entire season because they don't have a franchise QB.

We can COMPETE, maybe not win, but COMPETE, and look respectable with solid coaching and solid personnel moves even without an Andrew Luck. We competed with Garrard, and he wasn't exactly Peyton Manning. It can be done.

 

If we at least look like a  professional NFL squad,  then if we lose them all, we lose them all. No shame in that.

But right now we are not even competing folks, we are pathetic, so it's a bit early for the pep talk of "We finally have the right guys in place" speech.

His "elite" YPA was ranked 9th,

 

His "elite" int % was probably the result of him being the 22nd ranked starting QB for number of pass attempts.

 

His "elite" rank for pass attempts per game among starting QBs landed him at #32.

 

Total passing yards was an "elite" 18th.

 

Calling David Garrard "elite" in any sense of the word only makes sense if you live your life accepting mediocrity as the gold standard, or you're married to him, so I guess that explains why you are the only person on the planet calling him that because you're darn sure not Mary Garrard.

Go pull up the stats yourself on NFL.com and check that if you doubt it.  Overall ranking of NFL QBs for 2007 landed him at an elite #18.  I'm assuming that ranking is based on "elite" passing yards, but that's what you're greeted with as the first ranking.

 

Keep on trying.  It isn't going to get any better.  Garrard was never elite, or even remotely close. He had one better than average season, and that's it.  And it was only BARELY better than average.
