UF vs LSU
|
I'm purposely overlooking Missouri because quite frankly if we can't get past them after the surprising start of the season, the rest of the year is null and void anyways.
Even after UF beat Ole Miss, I still was crapping my pants at the thought of UF vs LSU. I started looking further into it however and found some interesting things to take into consideration. LSU is very one sided, we all know this by now. If you can somehow shut down Leonard Fournette, you've effectively shut down their offense. UF is 23rd in the nation allowing only 2.9 YPA (LSU is 14th, but we don't rely on rushing like they do) and I think they know how nonexistent LSU's passing game is especially after recently. Plus LSU hasn't played VH3. Obviously they will be planning everything they can to stop Fournette. Even though LSU has one less game played due to inclement weather, they're still roughly the same as far as points scored and points given up. Will Grier is definitely getting better with experience, and must faster than I thought would happen. The WR's are showing up huge and making catches. I personally think this COULD be a very entertaining game that could go either way. Thoughts? Edit: Having lost only 7 games in Tiger Stadium since 2005, this would be epic to make it 8.

If the Gators win, they will be a Top 10 team. LSU is #7 this week.
Why do you say we lost only 7 games at Tiger Stadium in the last 10 years? Sometimes they come here, so we have not played at LSU that many times.

Jaguars Fundamentalist
Quote:He's meaning LSU has only lost 7 home games in 10 years. Bingo. There will never be a more perfect time than now. This team is built to beat the brakes off LSU and not lose a beat. Fournette, you're going down, rack up all the yards you want this week against Spurrier.

Quote:Bingo. There will never be a more perfect time than now. Gators are built to beat passing teams. Having a good secondary will allow them to man up on the outside and put 8 in the box. But being able to sell out against the run isnt as ideal as being a good run stopping team to begin with. ________________________________________________ Scouting well is all that matters. But being able to sell out against the run isnt as ideal as being a good run stopping team to begin with. 1) They're completely a run stopping defense as well, they just don't have the same play makers in the box like VH3 and Jalen Tabor on the outside. They're 24th in the nation with a 2.9 YPA run stuffing defense. 2) Playing LSU while knowing they have to stop the run is even more better than usual. NORMALLY, LSU has a decent all around game. This year, they are completely one sided in Fournette, why in the sam hell do you think they've looked less than stellar the past couple weeks (Eastern Michigan is... well... Eastern Michigan) including being near equal going into the half against Eastern Michigan. The major difference is they have absolutely NO QB / WR game whatsoever. UF could leave Tabor and VH3 out deep and put 9 in the box LOL Edit: IF Gators had played LSU in the first week or two this year, I think it would have been a complete stomp. Right now, Gators are surging and LSU is losing steam because of how one sided they are (so what if nobody has beat them, u can bet the teams coming up are game planning for them like crazy) so yeah it's definitely more even now. I thought LSU would just destroy everyone in their path, but not anymore. They're beatable.

Missouri QB Maty Mauk suspended indefinitely now.
I'll take it. http://espn.go.com/college-football/stor...definitely It blows me away that these dudes spend their entire childhood on working to be the best QB then they throw it all away (with whatever his action was that caused the indefinite suspension)
I agree that if we can't beat mizzou then that puts this whole roller coaster to a screeching halt, and while I think that it's on for us as fans to look ahead, I'm hoping and praying the players don't. They have beat us the last two years and last year was the most embarrassing thing I've seen in a long time.
That being said I credit the success to Jim Mcelwain. He for some reason sounds goofy as hell when he talks to the media and it seems like he's not sure what to do with his hands but he has made this team believe in itself. And the part that makes me so excited is he's doing it the right way. I totally though this year was gonna be a 3 or 4 loss year, and it still might, but there is improvement every single game, will Grier is not the same quarterback he was two weeks ago, and who knows where he'll be in two weeks from now, those receivers aren't the same as they were, I'm just really excited man. And as far as lsu goes, whether they can only win running the ball or not, it's a night game in death valley. There's some kind of magic that happens in death valley at night and it's going to take every ounce of fight we have to win that game.

I definitely agree with this, I'm just not backing down and hoping they go full [BLEEP] crazy mode and just completely stun LSU like they did Ole Miss.

I think fournette will punish the gator defense. Harris will have many more designed runs too.
It's important to pass when you need to but the run game can wear down many opponents. We'll see if lsu can get a quality win against a quality d. Don't forget Syracuse was ranked top (40yds a game) prior to lsu coming to town.
UF will stun the Bayou Bengals in front of over 102,000 fans and jump into the playoff picture.
If the Gators play the way they did against Ole Miss then they can beat anyone in the nation. LSU is too predictable and their passing attack is atrocious.
Respect the game. Play with a sense of urgency.
1.) Take care of the ball. Win the turnover battle. 2.) It's all about 3rd down. Win on 3rd down to win the game. 3.) Playmakers make plays. The only reason that you put your uniform on is to make plays. In order to EARN your paycheck, you must make plays. Learn from the great collapse of 2023. Quote:UF will stun the Bayou Bengals in front of over 102,000 fans and jump into the playoff picture. I think the gators match up well, but will be a defensive battle. Defense will win this game.
I'm love/hate right now about how our offense played against mizzou, I hate it because we should have used the game to tune up for playing in the hostile environs like death valley, and the first two drives were pretty good but after that they went nowhere. Hopefully coach mac lights a fire under their tails and get the offense in synch. I'm curious to see if we will load up the box and man up on the outside, or if Geoff will try to get cute and automatically assume that our front 7 can stop him with no problem. I think our hopes of winning hinge on the play of Marcus maye and Keanu neal I wanna see them blow up fornette every chance they get

Quote:I think the Gators match up well, but will be a defensive battle. Defense will win this game. After watching the first half of LSU and South Carolina, I thought Leonard Fournette can be stopped by a better run defense. But we have to do that the whole four quarters because he got better after halftime.
I'm looking forward to this game...
We know that Florida's pass defense is one of the best in the nation, but I want to see how their run defense stacks up against Leonard Fournette and the Tigers offensive line.
Quote:It's interesting that Game Day isn't covering this game of undefeateds. You mean not at LSU? They always talk about every big game of the week no matter where the show is located. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

Its some good games this week Bama at TAMU, MSU at Michigan etc.
I dont think CG anticipated UF being this good so quickly.
