New Head Coach

Marrone is a really good coach. Probably best since Coughlin for Jags if given the chance.

Quote:Not for nothing, but Marrone is supposed to be a very good O Line coach and our RBs couldn't get 40 yards combined against the #30 run defense in the league largely because their D line was in our backfield the whole game. Why are we all of a sudden anointing this guy the heir apparent?
The Jaguars line is kind of in flux inside. Linder and Cann should be the L/R Guards and Zane should be out of a job, dude is beyond bad. By the opener next year you have Shatley or Cann, with Linder on the other side. We still have Bowanko who could develop as well. The line had a bad game, for sure though.

Quote:What about John Fox, who was let go by Denver last year?  He took Carolina to a Super Bowl. And I don't think Denver's playoff loss last year was Fox's fault.  Manning had a torn muscle in his arm.
Chicago might object to that.

Quote:Why? Hue Jackson was so bad in Oakland that the owners virtually fired him earlier than they wanted to in order to keep him from running the franchise even more into the ground.
Yeah poor old Hue tried be a rookie HC and a rookie GM at the same time, didnt work too well as you could imagine.Reggie was hired as GM and fired him a few days after. That being said the two seasons Hue was with the Raiders as OC first then as HC they went 8-8 both seasons, the only time they have had winning records since 2002.

I think with Caldwell as the GM and a strong defensive coordinator behind him Hue would have all the tools to make our offense one of the best in the league.

I also like the way he creates a strong running game which would be a huge help to Bortles when things get tough.

He comes across as a tough coach. Not saying he comes without his risks but who doesn't? No real accomplished HCs on the market and I think hiring someone with a college only resume would be a mistake.

That's right. I forgot about that.

I would like someone with head coaching NFL experience.  How about Mike Smith?  The players loved him when he was a DC here.

Yeah.. all this team's troubles can be attributed to their inability to properly align their helmets at practice.
Only a chump boos the home team!

Julio Jones made a comment last night that I found interesting. He said (and I'm paraphrasing, can't find the quote now) that the Falcons have basically the same group of guys that they did last year, but they now have a coach who knows how to game plan and utilize his players' strengths. That's a pretty damning indictment of Mike Smith, and it would give me serious pause before considering him as a head coaching candidate.

I'm the best option right now.

My personal choice is Mike Shanahan. He was very good when he had a stable qb and ok when not.

Morrone is ok as interim, but....there's always a but with him.

I like Shanahan.

The guy just quit his last head coaching job and is currently coaching one of the most underachieving areas of our entire team.

Let's make him our head coach!

You guys do remember how the Shanahans were at the very least on board with (and possibly orchestrated) the deal to ship tons of picks to St. Louis for the right to draft RG3, right? And how they then destroyed him?

Shanahan was a great coach when he had Elway. After he lost Elway, he became Jack Del Rio. An occasional playoff berth, but mostly a team right around .500 unable to find an answer at QB.
