I know this article is trivial and only one persons opinion, but this article had his listed as "Next Level" at number 14 ahead of guys like Flacco, P.Manning, Stafford, Kaepernick.

I just watched the clip of Bortles talking about practicing through the injury, and quite frankly..

HE'S THE MAN!!!

Every week we hear of players sitting out because they have a sore hamstring, or whatever, but here comes Blake after sustaining a shoulder injury saying, "I'm going to practice until they tell me I can't." Gus was saying he expected Blake to sit out Wednesday to rest his sore arm. He's like, "sorry coach, but if I can go, I'm going," Damn straight this is the attitude our players need to have, and it's about time somebody steps up and sets and example. He's leading by example here. Get off your lazy [BLEEP] and get out there already you crybabies sitting out every week. If only Poz would have done as much last week, the Jaguars win that game. Hopefully the players wake up and realize what it's going to take to get the job done.

Quote:I can't hope to be wrong? Don't be stupid. I want what everyone else wants. I just don't pee on my self about it like y'all do. But he wasnt calling me out he was following me around with quotes loaded since who know how long waiting to throw them out there. Pretty creepy. And to top it off it means nothing I stand by what I say. He's mediocre at best right now. A few nice statistical games means he padded stats against two bad teams but couldn't put the team on his shoulders and win. I'm with phaze on this subject right now. Against the colts he couldn't do better than one td? Winners get more than that. Then he basically matched stats like Mariota a rookie did against a poor bucs team. Do it early and often then that would be something to be giddy about and I'll have no qualms celebrating it.
What is with the pee and giddy remarks? It is a gross exaggeration of how people actually feel. If you think he is improving and looking like a potential franchise QB you are peeing yourself? Who says this stuff lol. Do you talk like that in real life?

No one has to save quotes. It isn't that difficult to find threads. I'm not sure why you get so defensive when someone brings up something you said and deflect with off topic remarks.

I think you look and focus on the negative. You are more than happy to repeat negative posts and are hardly seen when there is something positive to talk about. At least own it. And that is fine. That's how you perceive things.

We will agree to disagree on him being mediocre. He hasn't played mediocre up to this point and continues to improve. The line and running game did him no favors last week and he still made plays. And he still have a long way to go. It's encouraging though to see him make strides and improve from one year to the next which means he could keep improving.

The reason why we're even having this discussion is because I've been critical and don't hold back. I'm attacked for it. I simply said the potential year ending stats would be encouraging. But never changed my opinion. But the idiot that has been following me around hanging on every word I post blew a gasket trying to trap into some type of hypocrisy. But it's invalid. Either way I know how I feel and some people can't deal with it. Not my problem.

I think the issue here is that more often than not, some posts on this particular topic (you aren't alone either) are made with the underlying intention/illusion of making what Blake is leaving on the field week in and week out trivial or not worthy of acknowledgement. Calling his performance mediocre is disingenuous at best, egregious at worst. Is he an All-Pro...nowhere near but dude is playing well, especially considering the circumstances. We just suck otherwise. That may not be your intention. That may not be what you mean to convey but that's what's being perceived here and that's why you're being attacked.

In the end, it doesn't really matter. We're allowed to disagree on things. If we all agreed on everything, this place (and life in general) would be terribly, terribly boring.

The problem, too, is that ThunderBuns, Janantus, and freinds will write Blaine Bortles off completely and post a 10 page thread belly-aching how he is worthless and it was a worthless pick AFTER ONE INTERCEPTION. On the flip side, Blake can string together a few games of looking really good and showing steady improvement and the same group of numbskulls will call it mediocre and claim it's too soon to tell anything.

Love hearing stuff like this. This could potentially be a season turning move by bb5. To me it also shows the locker room is not yet lost.

Attacked? Their your words. Why do you get so defensive when someone quotes you?

I don't know what you guys are talking about.  Watch this video, and I think you'll realize that Blaine is a REAL AMERICAN.

All of this. I couldn't agree more.

TBH, I was still skeptical even after hearing about all the work BB5 put in during the offseason because of my Gabbert PTSD. But BB5 proved me (happily) wrong. Then after the last game, I was worried BB5 would be giving up on this team and/or this coaching staff because even after he and the offense put up 31 points, they still lose. And then he busts out with a quote like this.

Bortles has proven that he has the leadership and ability to be a franchise-level QB. I'll admit he still has to do it consistently to earn the label, but everything he has done since he was drafted supports the belief that he will. I hope the rest of the team can quickly get their [BAD WORD REMOVED] together and follow suit.

“It just shows what kind of team we are. We’re a tough team. We like contact. We’re very physical. We want the issue to be brought to us so we can show people we can stand up to it and overcome it. Seeing that’s just a symbol of our team and who we are.” - Jaguars DT Malik Jackson

No one thinks or cares if Bortles is good.

This is a load of crap.

Warner spends a great deal of time each week personally dissecting the games of every quarterback, and he states his own personal opinion even though it's typically way different than the mainstream opinion.

There are also plenty of Jaguars fans who care very much if Bortles is good, and as of late there are also plenty of new Bortles fantasy football owners who care as well.

Bortles is having a good season and flying under the radar.

Stats:

IN 5 games: 1300 yards 10tds 5 ints.  He has been a real iron man as well.
