Am I the only one who thinks Alabama might be #4?
|
Ohio St is garbage. As said about plenty of teams before, if they were in the SEC they'd have like 3 losses by now. Auburn / TA&M / LSU / Bama / probably Mizzou could all beat them... LOL

LOL Not being in the SEC has nothing to do with how good Ohio State is. The Pacific 12 and Big 12 are not as good as the SEC either but everyone is saying Oregon and Baylor would kill Ohio State. How come nobody says Oregon and Baylor are garbage for not being in the SEC? Quote:Not being in the SEC has nothing to do with how good Ohio State is. How come nobody says Oregon and Baylor are garbage for not being in the SEC? I think it's just a bitter pill to swallow for many Gator fans, that Urban Meyer is at OSU and hasn't lost a game yet. Now, I will agree with them, for now, that OSU isnt quite as good yet, because of the level of competition regarding SEC vs OSU's. But, it won't be long until Urban has recruited many of the best players in the nation. When that happens, the Buckeyes competition will probably still be weaker. But, as a team, they will be able to compete, and most likely win, vs most of what the SEC has to offer. They will be as strong, or even stronger, then most of the SEC. As long as the BIG 10-11-12 stays fairly weak, OSU will be in prime position for playoffs/NC games vs the SEC for a lot of years. Quote:I think it's just a bitter pill to swallow for many Gator fans, that Urban Meyer is at OSU and hasn't lost a game yet.I might be one of the very few that isn't mad at Urban. He gave us 2 National Championships and a lot of great games/seasons. While he was here it was a blast watching the Gators. Sucks that he left the way he did, but if that's where he wanted to be all along, so be it. I do hate ohio state though. But they suck so that doesn't matter. We whipped em in Basketball and Football. Suck it Trebek.

Quote:I think it's just a bitter pill to swallow for many Gator fans, that Urban Meyer is at OSU and hasn't lost a game yet. I don't think Urban Meyer has anything to do with it. Board members have been hating on Ohio State forever. But I can understand some Gators fans blaming Urban now. They think he only quit to get away from problems at Florida and lied about retiring to spend more time with his family. But the hate on Ohio State started long before that happened - and so did some hate on Urban Meyer. One thing a lot of people ignore is the fact that the SEC has as many bad teams as good teams. When Georgia and Florida met neither team was ranked. The other dog team, Mississippi State, has been even worse. Kentucky, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, and Ole Miss are also perennial losers and Arkansas has been bad this season. Why is everyone acting like Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Missouri, South Carolina, and TAMU are the entire SEC? Quote:I might be one of the very few that isn't mad at Urban. I hated Ohio State for as long as I can remember. The year that they played Miami for the title I borrowed a Miami hat from a Cane buddy and wore it to my wife's parents house who are all Buckeyes. Just to irk them.

LOLOhio State would run the table in the weak SEC. How many times has the "best conference" won the bowl challenge cup that is given to the conference with the best bowl record? Oh yeah. Zero. Quote:At one point Florida was ranked. "Ranking at the time" is meaningless, particularly early in the season. Quote:Really? So for example Clemson's early season win over then ranked #5 Georgia is considered to be "meaningless"? Bump.
Whether someone has a liberal, or conservative viewpoint, a authoritative figure should not lock a thread for the sole purpose to get the last word in all the while prohibiting someone else from being able to respond.
Quote:Bump.Early season rankings mean nothing. People are trying to make cases propping wins up as better than they are because of a certain rank at a certain times. The cream always rises to the top. Northwestern was a top 15 team early, Florida was, ND was as high as 11 in preseason polls, etc. On the flip side, Michigan St. and Northern Illinois were unranked pre-season. The "ranking at the time" arguments are pointless. The BCS computers don't take "ranking at the time" into account, they take the strength of schedule. When Team A beats " 8th ranked at the time" Team B it means nothing now if Team B is unranked, or tumbled down to 25. I never inferred the win was meaningless, but it doesn't hold water like some would like it to.

Quote:Early season rankings mean nothing. People are trying to make cases propping wins up as better than they are because of a certain rank at a certain times. Gotcha, So all those SEC teams that were (highy) ranked in the preseason AP polls basically are meaningless then?

My point is Georgia is not the quality win some would like to think for Clemson. Florida, a preseason top 15 was no where near that high of a ranking and it has played out that way. The "ranking at the time" is a pointless thing to point out because it matters none.

Quote:You truly read into it whatever you want. *sigh* I knew you were going to haphazardly avoid the question. I get the point of your opinion that UGA is not the same team NOW that they were when the preseason AP polls came out. Here let me ask you a *softball* question. Did UGA deserve the preseason AP ranking of #5 to begin with in your opinion?

Quote:*sigh* I knew you were going to haphazardly avoid the question.Coming in off of last season, sure they deserved it. There was nothing avoided. I stated facts regarding the BCS. That is ultimately all that matters right now so pointing out the fact that someone beat someone who was "ranked at a certain spot at the time" is pointless. The win does nothing for Clemson now that Georgia has as many losses as they do. It doesn't help their SOS. What is so hard to get here. Like talking to a wall.

Quote:Coming in off of last season, sure they deserved it. So UGA deserved the preseason AP ranking #5, but because Clemson an OOC team beat them who was "ranked at a certain spot at the time" is considered to be pointless, and dosent help their SOS, even though UGA is from the ALMIGHY HERALDED SEC. So as I stated earlier in the thread, Bama's wins vs TAMU and Ole Miss are meaningless since those 2 teams were ranked and came earlier in the season.

We can throw out Auburn's win(s) vs "LSU" and Ole Miss since they were ranked early in the season as well? I think you don't like people who challenge your opinions, hence you getting frustrated and feel like you are "talking to a brick wall".

Auburn didn't beat LSU, why do you keep saying that? Quote:You truly read into it whatever you want. Georgia may not be a quality win based on rankings, but in voters eyes they were a quality win because it was a healthy Georgia team. And that is where the human vote comes into play that a computer can't use in their "numbers". |
