11 Days until the 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who

#1
(This post was last modified: 11-22-2013, 12:02 PM by The Eleventh Doctor.)

I'm guessing there's a couple of people out there that watch it.  I know there's at least one.  Anyway, 50th Anniversary Special is in 11 days.  Why 11 days?  Well there's been 11 Doctors!

In honor of the 50th anniversary, each day I will post a quote from The nth Doctor (where n is the number of days left)  because choosing just one is hard.  (I will also stick to editing them in the original post so as not to continue bumping this if there's not a lot of Who fans out there)

11th Doctor:

"Amy Pond, there's something you better understand about me 'cause it's important and one day your life may depend on it...I am <i>definitely</i> a mad man with a box."

10th Doctor:

"I'm the Doctor. I'm a Time Lord. I'm from the planet Gallifrey in the constellation of Kasterborous. I'm nine hundred and three years old. And I'm the man that's going to save your lives and all six billion people on the planet below. You got a problem with that? In that case, allons-y!"

<b>9th Doctor: </b>

"Rose... before I go, I just want to tell you: you were fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. And do you know what? So was I!"

8th Doctor:

"The universe hangs by such a delicate thread of coincidences, it's useless to meddle with it. Unless, like me, you're a Time Lord."

<b>7th Doctor:</b>

"There are worlds out there where the sky is burning, and the sea's asleep, and the rivers dream; people made of smoke and cities made of song. Somewhere there's danger, somewhere there's injustice, and somewhere else the tea's getting cold. Come on, Ace. We've got work to do."

6th Doctor:

"In all my travelling, I have battled against evil, against power-mad conspirators. I should have stayed here. The oldest civilisation. Decadent, degenerate, and rotten to the core. Power-mad conspirators. Daleks, Sontarans, Cybermen. They're still in the nursery compared to us. Ten million years of absolute power. That's what it takes to become really corrupt"

5th Doctor:

"You know how it is; you put things off for a day and next thing you know, it's a hundred years later."

4th Doctor:

"The very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common. They don't alter their views to fit the facts. They alter the facts to fit their views. Which can be uncomfortable if you happen to be one of the facts that needs altering

3rd Doctor:

'A straight line may be the shortest distance between two points, but it is by no means the most interesting.'

2nd Doctor:

"Our lives are different to anybody else's. That's the exciting thing, that nobody in the universe can do what we're doing."

1st Doctor:

"You can't rewrite history. Not one line!"

I can't wait, I've watched the trailers over and over. Unfortunately, I have prepared myself for a let down. I think Moffet can write a great story but it seems, to me, when there is a bunch of hype, he doesn't deliver. Both he and RTD had some great stories but some REAL weak ones also. For my $$ the best season is still the return of the Doctor with Eccleston. I thought Eccleston's Doctor was the best of the new series. I guess part of that is not being around long enough to get pulled down by a bad story line which I think happened to Tennant a bit and to Smith quite a bit.

It kinda stinks that they aren't gonna show it in the theater here in Jax until the Monday AFTER the show. If I REALLY like it I'll go but I got a feeling the theater will be empty...

11th Doctor: "It's a police box, can't you read? I'm your new undercover agent, on loan from Scotland yard. Code name, The Doctor. These are my top operatives: The legs, the nose, and Mrs. Robinson."

Riversong: "I hate you"

11th Doctor: "No you don't"

Thanks for posting this. I am traveling in Canada and did not even know about the airing in theatres. Just picked up a ticket for the replay on the 25th!

10th Doctor: "It's not that I'm an innocent, I've taken lives. I got worse, I got clever. Manipulated people into taking their own. Sometimes, I think a Time Lord lives too long."

Glad to see some Who fans here.

I thought about using Everybody lives, Rose!  Just this once, everybody lives!  for the ninth doctor.

Some good quotes to describe The Doctor too.  My favorite is probably:

“He's like fire and ice and rage. He's like the night, and the storm in the heart of the sun. He's ancient and forever. He burns at the center of time and he can see the turn of the universe. And... he's wonderful."

I'm not so much a Who fan myself, but my Grandfather is a diehard fan of the series. I'm sorry if this is the state of the fanbase today.

Is this some British thing like Monty Python or the Pink Panther?

They can close the Harry Potter stuff at Universal at any time. The place stinks of some type of foaming carmel-scented swill and usually full of pale ghosts of foreign origins.

I thought it was really good, not great. It did reset some things that RTD had changed to restart the series. Just as always I am sure some of the stuff SM had put in there won't be explained for a series or 2 but I think the worst part of the show for me was the queen and her acting and showing the next Doctor Capaldi made no sense to me. The good was that it answered some questions not only from the SM era but also the RTD era. The "Classic Who" and the "NuWho" have now been connected. Of course the appearance of Tom Baker made everyone OMG...lol
