Quote:Gus started Henne over Blake when it was clear Blake was better from the jump.

Gus doesn't know talent.
This is such a stupid example. Everyone knows that they just didnt want to throw Blake out there before he was ready. He obviously is physically better than Henne but he had a lot to work on in terms of Xs and O's. You can see it with how he is playing this year even with another new system.

Quote:By that logic you're going to say that Gratz would have done better on Hopkins than House did? Sure I hope Gratz plays lights out, but from what I've seen of him before, I doubt it.

I doubt it as well. Now if we're wrong and Gratz is not beat like a red-headed step child next week and the Jaguars win the game then we can all apologize to Gus and call him a genius. But otherwise the man seriously needs to lose his job.

You just went out and spent all this money for House and after one bad 4th quarter against one of the best WR's in the league (who was pushing off all game I might add) this season you bench him? What message does that send to your team?

What about starting Clem/Branch who have applied NO pressure? Gus is getting ready to lose the locker room.

Does Buffalo even have a recieving threat outside of Watkins?

Harvin is out.

It's down to Clay and Woods.

Isnt part of the buzz word "accountability" that you sit players if they arent changing their behavior. What if House was lackadaisical in practice and Gus is just sending a message. He could easily be the better player but if he is not doing the job off the field or in practice then you have to do something. Obviously this is just a certain scenario, but its relatively likely something like this happened. They have a full roster of coaches; I cant believe they think that House should be benched just from how he played last week. If Gus were to come out and say they benched House because he wasnt performing in games then I would agree that Gus needs to be gone because thats ridiculous.

The tin horns had no threat besides Hopkins, and yet Gus failed to roll any help over to house's side.

The guy is in way over his head.

To jags02-- I believe ej Manuel is playing on Sunday. Even if Watkins doesn't go off this Sunday, it is not an affirmation for this stupid move.

I think you actually owe dude a big apology
Lol, right... He had an opinion on everything. He got some stuff right and he got some stuff wrong. Sounds like any other fan, radio guy, tv guy, etc... He got a lot wrong on his QB predictions.

The obvious is obvious.

If whoever can't cover the Bills WRs with their superb quarterbacking, doesn't deserve a roster spot. Period.

Then again...

To me that's like saying, "it's ok to just rest Poz vs the Bucs because it's just the Bucs... we can't handle them without Poz."

You do know you're talking to him now right? Or his protege, one.

So Gus came to the conclusion only House needed to be benched after 6 games of this crap? If you defend this guy you don't need to be debated or argued with.

He probably pointed out in the film review how Gus and the DC were so stupid to put a game plan together that didn't double cover the only Texans' WR threat and expected him to cover the WR for 5 seconds.

Gus couldn't bench himself, so House got benched.

I hope this destroys the locker room and players start talking openly.

Gus is starting Gratz over House yet Ryan Davis is riding the bench because of some BS about special teams.. I'm ready for the offseason.. I wonder who we'll get as our next HC
10 years ago we had Bob Hope, Johnny Cash, and Steve Jobs..... Please don't die, Kevin Bacon.

All I'm trying to say is that we don't know the reason for this benching. Speculation is a huge part of the forum and is fine, but it doesnt make sense to me to trash talk Gus over this move like you know for sure he is benching him because he thought he played badly last week. There is little to no analysis by most of you just assumptions and getting all upset over it, calling Gus a moron.

This is another thing I dont get. I guarantee you if Davis was the best edge rusher we had playing most the snaps then he would play those snaps and not play special teams. The point is that they dont believe he will be consistent will a full rep load from what they've seen from him with more limited reps. They may be wrong for sure about it but to think they are not starting him just because they want him on special teams is so asinine. If he was the best he would play and move someone else to special teams, especially with the problems they have with the pass rush.

The part that kills me, absolutely kills me, is that Gus has benched 50% of his starting secondary in the last couple of weeks even though they're being asked to do the impossible: cover receivers indefinitely while the quarterback has a drink, takes a nap, watches an episode of CSI and then throws the football. Seriously, this team has no pass rush. House is better than what we saw on Sunday, and certainly much better than Gratz. I'm not going to argue that Brown is particularly good, but I think he's still better than Josh Evans. Demetrius McCray continues to cover punts because...accountability?

Point being, it's hard to point fingers at the secondary and say, "YOU GUYS SUCK!" when our defensive line applies all the pressure of a one-sided clamp. The secondary isn't great, but it's not the source of the problem. Clemons and Miller are utterly useless, Marks is hobbled (and Alualu was not an adequate replacement) and Odrick is eating up blockers because Miller is being handled one-on-one without the offensive lineman breaking a sweat. We knew coming in that the safeties were a problem, but to be benching cornerbacks while not benching underachievers like Branch, Clemons and Miller on the line is like putting a band-aid on a knee scrape while you're bleeding out from your jugular.
