Believe me I'm frustrated. We and this board is exhibite A, go about it in different ways. I'd prefer to have meaningful discussions, but the majority of angry fans are still talking about ice cream, sprinkles and the overall record. I'm not sure how people don't get tired typing the same thing every time. Maybe they save the comments and just copy/paste? I'm not necessarily referring to you btw.

 

Most of those who lean heavily on the ice cream and sprinkles nonsense are incapable of looking at the bigger picture, so they have to fixate on one target and make that their entire focus.  They think they're being funny here, but the joke ran out of gas a year ago.  They simply don't have anything better to come back with.  They darn sure don't want to acknowledge any tangible improvements that most here with functional football IQs can see plain as day.  That doesn't serve their agenda to recognize the areas where the team is getting better.  When the team does turn the corner, they'll still be fixating on ice cream and sprinkles, and they'll break it out any time there's a hiccup by the team.  It's all they've got unfortunately.

As frustrating as the early part of the season has been, I see quite a bit to be encouraged by.  We've started to identify the guys who will be the foundation for the turnaround when it happens with Robinson, Hurns, and Bortles.  We're seeing other players who are also starting to step up and show their value.  Has it resulted in wins yet?  No, but you can clearly see the team is getting better, and as key players come back from injury and knock off the rust, that improvement should continue.  The area where improvement is less likely during this season is in finding an edge rusher.  We're simply going to have to get more creative about how we rush the passer in order to try to affect the QB.  If we can do that, the secondary will magically start to look a whole lot better. 

 

There is a lot of football left to play for this team, and more than enough opportunity to show that things are headed in the right direction.

Im not insulting you anymore. About your 2nd quote, the part I put in bold, how is it that this team is "clearly" getting better? Im not being a wise [BLEEP], I seriously want to know why you think that. We just lost to 2 of the most beatable teams in the NFL, and one without their starting QB. The only thing that is " clearly" getting better is our QB and two of our WRs. Everything else has shown 0 improvement, to actually taking a step backward.

If we had lost to even mediocre teams these last 3 weeks, I could see where you are coming from.  But we are losing to the dregs of the league.  We are looking competitive for a half against the likes of the Colts, Bucs, and Texans with our one win coming against a pitiful Dolphins team.  We had our measuring stick game against the Patriots and got throttled.  The only game I'm not embarrassed about how we lost is the Panthers game.

 

The question is, if we don't beat the second string of the Bills, when do we get a win?  Is that the point where we can officially call this regime a failure?  Because if we don't beat the Bills, I don't see many wins on the horizon.

 

I don't see the Patriots game as any sort of measuring stick for this team.  Nobody expected that game to  be even remotely close because of where both teams are currently, and they were right.

 

As far as losing to the "dregs" of the league, where do you think this team has been for the past few years?  While they've lost games that they should have won, the difference this year is that the team is actually considerably more competitive than they have been the past couple of seasons.  We're losing because of stupid mistakes on the field.  Once the team gets those cleaned up, the hope is that the team will start to put wins together and not just moral victories. 

 

The article that started this thread does a good job of recognizing where the team was, and where it is today.  They're not nearly as far from being competitive as some on this board want to insist.  We're still talking about a very young team.  They're improving.  As the stupid mistakes get addressed, things will continue to get better for this group.  If they lose this week to Buffalo, it depends on how they lose.  If it's more dumb mistakes at critical moments in the game like a missed kick, or a pick 6, or an interception on the goal line, that's on the players, not the coaches.  At some point, these young guys who we are relying on to be the future for this franchise have to step up and make the plays necessary to win.  I'm confident that they will.  When that happens is the question.

Yes, we have been the dregs of the league the last 3 years...unfortunately, we are still in the same spot.  At least the other teams that find themselves towards the bottom eventually get better.  I wonder how bad our record is the last 4 years compared to the next worst team.  Bet it wouldn't even be close.

Literally the only improvement is the passing game.  Defense is worse.  Running game is nonexistent.  Special Teams is terrible.  Passing is the only improvement.  Unfortunately, it is inconsistent.  Which is an improvement over consistently terrible the last 3 years.

Year 3 has always been pointed to as the turning point.  We're 6 games into the season.  There's a lot of football left to be played for the improvements to start to gain a foothold.  If it doesn't happen, there will be changes this coming off season. 

 

Considering where this team was a year or two ago, the progress is there.  It hasn't resulted in wins yet, but they'll eventually start to happen.

The Jaguars are no different than any other team.  It will get better on the field.  We're already seeing the improvement on the field.  It's just got to become more consistent, and more prevalent.  It really doesn't matter how bad this team has been compared to others.  The approach they've taken to rebuild this roster is different from what any other team has done previously.  Think about how many rookies we started last season.  Think about how young this team is even today.  The expectation was that the team would struggle, and it has.  But, there's also an expectation that it's going to get better, and that the experience the young players have gained will start to reap rewards on the field.  That should come as well.  The hope is that it happens sooner than later.  If it doesn't, there will be changes coming.

Losing by 34 in a game that wasn't even that close?  I think that was a bit surprising.  At least we could have kept it within 20 points.  We are still an NFL team for crying out loud.
