Some people refuse to acknowledge how bad this team was under Gene Smith. Some people are unable to look at NFL history and see that both the Steelers and Patriots endured around 30 years of losing before they became legendary. The Bills lost 4 straight superbowls. The Browns lost their team to a different city and watched them win the superbowl that next season. The Lions have 1 playoff win since 1957. These people expect 3 years to be enough to overcome a decade of horrible drafting. These people refuse to refer to history and reference it towards the future.


Is Gus Bradley the long term future HC of the Jaguars? Probably not. Those that think this team can press the reset button and be an immediate contender are mistaken. Look at what they did to Gabbert; 3 seasons, 3 head coaches, 3 offensive coordinators. Is that what we really wanna do to Bortles? What about that whole "definition of insanity" thing you fools keep going on about?

That's the most important thing: does changing the Head Coach stunt Bortles, because he's taken the step up this year. Changing out the staff could really hurt, especially if he continues to improve the rest of this season. The best thing would be if a new head coach decided to keep the assistants (and they are willing to stay) because, for all their faults, this group seems to be close to being very good.

Keeping a bad coach just for continuity is lunacy. If he is nit the right coach, you can't keep him just because you are afraid of stunting Bortles.


On a side note, I really think Bortles has turned the corner, especially the way he sprinkles the ball to all of the receivers.

On the other hand, it shows that the people that were using sprinkles as a term really got under the skin of the adminstrators.  So, in essence, the admins lost, those using the term won.

There are other terms that can be used...  I like pizza party, cuz it hearkens back to elementary school and the care free attitude of that time in a childs life.  Plus, it's about the intellect of our current head coach in relation to his head coaching ability

 

The admins really must have lost thier minds over a really stupid joke.

The offense wouldn't change in mid-season, so Bortles wouldn't be "stunted" this season if Gus were to be fired Monday.


 

I doubt a new head coach next year would keep the current assistants, so change is likely next year. Bortles had no problem adjusting to a new offense this year, and I doubt it would be a huge problem. If that's your concern, the best chances for keeping the same offense next year are A) Gus stays for 2016 and the assistants don't bail out on him, or B.) Marrone (or Olson) gets the job long-term starting Monday and keeps the same offense in 2016.
