Wisconsin Rbs

Melvin Gordon all day long. He's going to be a stud at the next level.

I think that Caldwell, unlike Gene Smith, means it when he says he wants to stockpile picks and build through the draft. I don't expect him to be giving picks away to trade up.

But he said when we made the trade that he likes the flexibility to trade up that the two picks give.

With two games remaining:

Melvin Gordon 1,306 yards 12 TDs

James White 1,156 yards 12 TDs

Wisconsin has had 21 1,000 yard rushers in the past 21 seasons. No other school comes anywhere close to that. Is there anyone that still thinks that other colleges have had better college running backs than Wisconsin?

Probably not, but it's not a coincidence that the vast majority of these guys have done nothing at the next level. They're not that talented of football players and benefit immensely from Wisconsin's outstanding o-lines. Most QB U/RB U/TE U monikers come from having high draft picks and successful pros. In that respect, no one touches Miami in recent history.

Yeah, I've said that I used the "RB U" out of context.

My original post was saying exactly what you just said. Wisconsin RBs put up elite numbers in college and then usually flame out in the NFL. I'm not touching James White for this reason. I'm not sold that he can be a solid starting RB in the NFL. However, I believe Gordon will be an exception.

Anyone who stereotypes players from a certain school is dumb.

Not to hijack the thread, but Carlos Hyde is being mocked in the 3rd round. Would anyone be disappointed to see us pick him up there?

So you don't believe that running backs can look impressive in an offense that regularly has one of the best offensive lines in the country?

There is a reason Wisconsin RBs look so good in college and then average, at best, in the NFL. It isn't "stereotyping", it is realizing there is such things as "product of the system."

I believe in evaluating a RB's traits without taking into account the play of his team mates. Gordon has vision, elite speed, and elusiveness.

Wisonson RBs of the past get over rated because of big numbers, when in reality they arent special players. Gordon is.

This is one of Wisconsin's least talented o-lines in recent memory. Not to take anything away from your point, because I'm 100-percent in agreement with you here.

On Wisconsin.

Which is exactly what my point was.

1. Wisconsin RBs are usually overrated going into the NFL.

2. Gordon is an exception.

Carly, you obviously follow Wisconsin more than I do. What kind of career do you see James White having (compare him to an NFL player).

Wisconsin has 21 1,000 rushers in the past 21 seasons. No other school is even close to that. I think Melvin Gordon, barring injury, gives Wisconsin at least a lock for 22 in 22..... but is there any chance of another Wisconsin running back hitting the 1,000 yard mark? Stay tuned!

It's almost College Football Season and its worth discussing if both Gordon and Clement can both hit the 1,000 yards mark. I think Gordon is a lock barring injury. Would you rather me start a new thread and have to have  the same conversation all over again?
