Coaching decisions being questioned

#81

Nothing wrong with going for it on fourth, its just WHO THEY USED!

definition of insanity: Doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result.

I've gotten to where I don't even like seeing the bald headed dufus.

Anymore games we win will be because of the players and blind luck.....for sure not the coaches.

Quote:agreed but here's the thing...If we would have gone for the FG and missed, then this entire thread would be all about why didn't we go for it on the 1? This is one of those times when if you make it, you got balls and it was a great call, but if you don't make it, you're a dip [BAD WORD REMOVED]

maybe...  But I wouldn't have questioned it.  I'm pretty honest with myself.  I've come out and told you that I'm not a fan of Bradleys.

If he would have kicked the FG and missed, we might have had some folks flaming him for not going for it on 4th down.  But I wouldn't have been one of them.

I would have been yelling at running Gerhart up the middle 3 times in a row.  But I would not have questioned kicking the FG.  Kicking the FG is would Coughlin or Belicheat would have done.

No, it wouldn't have. It would have been about why Myers is still employed. I suspect very few members would have blasted Bradley for making the sensible call rather than trying something again that didn't work the last three times.

If Toby can't get short yardage then honestly what does he do for us?

I've heard he's like a sundae whisperer. He knows exactly how much syrup and how many sprinkles to use to ensure a perfect bite every time.

I was wondering that myself

It's cool, man.  I don't have anything against those who see things differently.  Ain't nuthin' wrong with what you're thinking.  It's just a disagreement.

If everyone saw everything the same, the world would be a boring place

I actually didn't mind the going for it on 4th. It's running the exact same play that was dumb. Gus showed he wanted to win by going for it. A TD there would've been the dagger

There is this commonly held thought that Toby is a good short yardage back. I'm not sure where it comes from, but it is certainly not rooted in reality.

He's big, slow and white. He must be great in short yardage!

ya the 1st and goal from the 1.  I would have ran it 4 times in a row as well except 2 of them would be with Yeldon.  I get the idea force the ball down their throat and take further control of the game there is no reason it should not have worked.  The more disheartening thing is EJ manuel then led a 99 yd td drive.

Go Jags!
*To stay up for atleast 2 years 3/6/17
2016 draft players I think will be good
  • On the Fournette train, will be best back of his class 3/6/17
  • Lattimore please,  Lockdowns on both sides would be nice
  • Engram at TE and the MJD clone Samaje Perine

Yeldon was averaging over 5 yards a carry for the game.  I just don't get taking the ball out of a hot player's hands.

Yeldon has proven to be a more competent short yardage guy. He's slippery, and patient. If they gave him two of the four tries to punch it in, he would have.

My guess is they stuck with Gerhart because they had concerns about Yeldon straining that injured groin in that situation. It's really the only way you can explain that one.

Another suspect call was giving the ball to Alualu as the up man. Why get cute there?

I don't think Gus was overriding the calls. That was all Olsen. I know the Gus haters will pin everything wrong with the world on their favorite whipping boy, but he wasn't the one being stubborn. Olsen probably figured even Gerhart could pick up a yard.

Gerhart has proven to be useless in any capacity but possibly special teams.
Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Quote:When we had first and goal on the 1 yard line, I would have bet a million dollars that if we lined up Alualu at FB and Gerhart at RB, we would score a TD.   If you offered me 4 cracks at the goal line with that play, I would have bet a million dollars we would have scored.

Are you basing that on all the success we've had with Gerhert since he came to Jax?

Quote:I mean, if you think about it...

That goal line dumpster fire is the perfect analogy of complete stupidity of Gus Bradley as a HC.

First, it's unimaginative. The same exact play? Over and over again? It's predictable and not worthy of the NFL. It's something a high school coach that has had multiple concussions would do. Gus Bradley proves he's too stupid to be a HC.

Second, it ignores the talents of the team. You leave your best RB on the sideline and run a guy that you have seen come up short over and over again for 2 years. It shows that Gus does not understand who his best players are...

Third, it lacks fore-sight. OK. its now 4th down and we still haven't scored. Take the points. 3 points there probably still puts the game away. Instead he continues to bang his head against the wall. It shows Gus is a mental midget and doesn't think beyond the current play. This is a terrible trait to have as a HC.

Fourth, it lacks creativity. The same play to the same player, over and over again? Where are our 2nd half adjustments, you ask? Gus doesn't have the ability to adjust. He can't even adjust on 4th down after the same player and play has not worked 3 times in a row,

But yeah, let's keep Gus till the end of the season. Cuz, you know, he's figuring it out. Trust the process.

LOL. At some point, people have to realize the guy is trash. He's garbage. He doesn't deserve to be a HC in the NFL. He has no brains. He has no foresight. He has no creativity. He has no ability to recognize the talent on the team.

We're just wasting time with him as HC. It's just that simple.

Yes, he was good when running behind the Stanford line going against what then was pathetic Pac12 defenses.
